I just had the odometer roll over 150k miles a few days ago. I love how these cars are built to last....of course no sooner had I said that than a RED warning sign flashes along the digital display and says I need to visit workshop immediately to replace the alternator/battery. Pretty sure its the alternator though since I replaced the battery not too long ago.

Still, its a testament to how well these cars are built since nearly all of it is original equipment and still works wonderfully. I have had to replace alternators on other cars much sooner and more frequently than this one.

Hopefully, I got many more good years to come.

They're well built cars, just little things here and there. I'm at 152k and the car died on me yesterday when I came to a stop sign. pulled the code and its time for a new MAF!

Update
So plan was to take the car in replace the alternator tomorrow, but the I got the under voltage consumer discretion warning. Hopefully you all can see it as I tried attaching it in my phone. Once that light came on various electrical systems such as the radio and power steering began to fail. Fortunately I was a couple blocks from home. Now the car won't start so ill need to jump it to get it to the repair shop tomorrow.

Big thanks to Nocturnal for the alternator link on Amazon. Would love to but it at that price, but I can't wait for shipping.

No problem...

Being a member of Prime is a lifesaver sometimes... I ordered my alternator and overnighted it.

As a warning...DO NOT put off those warnings signs I posted above or you will end up as I am right now waiting for a tow truck while baking in 90 degree weather.

Could be worse. The car initially completely died while I was under the soon to be completed traffic light with no shoulder to move too. Fortunately a caltrans guy stopped his work truck where my car is now, blocked a lane, and the pushed me back 150 yards to where I am now. I was also about 150yd from getting on the freeway. I can't imagine what would have happened if it died like that on the freeway.

The ironic part? I was on my way to get the damn alternator replaced!

Ouch! ya I'd say your alternators had a good run. Did you get a used one/rebuilt or new?

Amazon sells our alternators?

Also did you have any prior warnings signs?

No prior warning signs other than the
Red lights. At repair shop now. Alternator has been replaced but car still won't fire up. It just cranks non stop as if its about to start. Techs are puzzled as to why. Installed brand new alternator.

Quick update:a fuse in the k40 was blown which is why car wouldn't start. Replace fuse and car started up. Thought I might have to replace the whole ECU at 2 grand which would have sucked.

When my alternator went out... mine also cranked non stop and wouldn't start.

That's weird though... I installed the new alternator and it solved the issue.

Is the battery charged? I charged my battery prior to installing the alternator.

Yesterday i almost passed out since it was close to 110 degrees in the valley and the worse part was the traffic.

Thank goodness the side street wasn't as bad.

I needed both. The alternator was totally blown. with the shutdown in electrical systems and the heat, i think I blew that fuse too.
