Excuse my ignorance guys, i’m baffled after reading this thread. I recently sold my ‘99 E55 which i owned for many yrs, it was a great car!! I also own an ‘02 CLK55 w/ Kleemann SC.
Is there a difference in the engine on these cars and what is required for the SC setup? I have the invoice for the SC install on my CLK prior to my ownership, there is nothing notated about the sleeve..

No real difference in the hardware. Big difference from '99 to the 2000+ year models is the ECU. Slightly different software version and the newer ECUs can be flashed with a new tune through the STAR port; the '99 model requires a new PROM chip installed or a stand-alone system like Megasquirt. You cannot do real-time tuning on a stock ME2.0 ECU, or the associated TCU. EDIT: belt length and routung are slightly different as well. Easy to get around, though, by getting the correct length.
The only real differences on the engine itself are in the oil pan, if I am not mistaken. W210 E55 and W163 ML55 are the same pan; W203 and 208 C/CLK55 are a different one. If it were even about half of what the kit costs I would have done this or the 3L Weistec S/C on my E55 a while back.

There are quite a few different internal parts. Only share block and crank journal dimensions.
The kleeman kit shown above is for NA M113. The enginges share the same platings as well.

Interesting, I was not aware about the ECU. Almost like OBD1 compared to OBD2 in this situation. Sounds as if installing an SC on a ‘99 is a bit of a painstaking and costly procedure!! I’m still confused about the need to sleeve on a ‘99 vs. the later yrs.
I hope everything worked out for the OP, I need to read the entire thread.

You won't need to sleeve unless you are using aftermarket pistons.
