Hi All, i've been chasing a highway vibration and am down to the hardest.

A little backround: at 65-75 and only when only the gas I get a moderate to sometimes heavy vibration from the front right side. I changed, shocks, control arms, in/out tire rods, sway bar link ends and body mounts. front/rear rotors and all 4 tires are Michelin super (sticky) sports.

I was told by a friend who mostly works on japanese cars to check the engine mounts which in his opinion looked shot. He said bad mounts can cause the driveshaft to not line up properly and vibrate. Anything else I can check?

Also if I do indeed need mounts what brand is suggested?

Genuine Mercedes mounts.

Lemforder mounts should be good to go.

I THINK the 211 55 mounts work on our cars too, made to handle more weight... Should be a "heavy duty" solution.

Replace the transmission mount while you are there. Check the flex discs on the driveshaft too for cracking / drying out.

I've read on a different thread that w211 mounts work well and are for a stiffer application. Would also advice to check tranny mounts and flex discs for wear.

I had it on a lift, and checked the tranny mount which looked brand new, as did the flex discs.

You can check the condition by doing a simple test:

i have the w211 AMG tranny mounts on my c43 and they are great if you like to have a bit stiffer suspension.
with koni adjustables on hardest settings and Vogtland springs on my car, car is more of a gocart now
this is to your liking only if you like sport suspension

Lemfoerder are inexpensive and quality, unless you are planning to flog the thing constantly, and then 211 mounts seem to be the way. Replace the tranny mount or at least pull it out to inspect as well; mine looked okay but then I realized that it was separated about 90% of the way through the rubber once it was removed. With a decent floor jack all 3 can be done in 2 hours or less. Still going through replacing bit by bit in the suspension, but replacing engine and trans mounts made the largest difference in ride quality for me. Flex discs were fine in my car even after 145,000 miles, but those are common failures. Differential mount can be a culprit of vibration, too, I have heard. Haven't got to mine yet. Also, since you say it seems like one corner, check for wheel hub freeplay or a slightly out-of-round wheel. They can pass a visual inspection and even balance at the tire shop, but at certain speeds the resonant frequencies will amplify even a small bounce from wheel deformation, even with new shocks. Switch out tires from left to right (just for a day, and not in the wet as your tires are directional) and see if that seems to shift it to the other side, or replace with the full size spare, since you have a '99, to see if that changes the vibration.

Road force balance has worked well for me on different vehicles.

I'm getting zero movement of the engine. I can barely move it. Does that point to a collapsed mount?

Contacted dealer to get motor mount quotes. They stated $1200 for motor and tranny mounts. Here's the breakdown:

Parts $660
Labor $540

I got them for about $200 for all three. Took about an hour to get them done with a jack and a couple of wrenches.

Did you use the W210 or get the W211 mounts?

Looks like the left and right engine mounts are the same part number:

item 1 - Front Mount - Mercedes-Benz (202-240-49-17)

item 6 - Trans Mount - Mercedes-Benz (212-240-04-18)

When I did engine mounts on my old E55 is was only about $100 in parts for both of them.

could it be a problem with the axles hmmm

you sir just hitted the nail in the head get new oem mounts you have around 70% it will salve your problem the engine is supposed to move just a little
