Safety issue! Check your Front Shock Top Mounts!!
Check your Front Shock Top Mounts, there could be a hidden defect and a potentially a serious safety issue when the Top Mount "bowl" separates from the chassis. It is bolted to the chassis only in 3 spots.
Even a low mileage car can suffer from this defect. Check the photos.
CORRECT - Top Mount "Bowl" in place

I'm aware of the front spring perch issue. Isn't it more common on a pre-2000 W210?
Well I hope the W210 doesn't have any other surprises.
After replacing almost every major suspension component and checking the whole car thoroughly, I have quite a good confidence in my car

I have the same issue on my car on the same side. The cup is a tiny bit jiggly. The other side is good. I have been spaying it with rust inhibitor till I finally get around to replacing the shocks and springs.
Jan AMG did you re weld yours? I have done almost every piece too and she drives great!!
I have never seen a thread about this topic. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, yes I rewelded mine. I had also undone the other side, and rewelded it too, just in case.
Before mounting the shocks back back to place, applied the original conservation wax around the cups to prevent rusting.
I'm glad this thread helps!
