Which battery for a 2001 E55 AMG
Which is the strongest battery to get? Should I be looking at amp/Hour, or CCA (cold cranking amps). Interstate website shows 3 choices, with most expensive at $260 with 3 year warranty. I do not see any a/H specified.
I won’t do the work, I’m taking it to the local shop that has done routine service (they seem to know the W210 chassis), but maybe new techs there, so I need to be informed about the procedure prior to letting them touch the car. Seems an important procedure is jumping the car prior to disconnecting and removing the existing battery. Does this eliminate any need for reprogramming?

Be sure the key fob is not in the ignition when you connect jumper cables or when you connect the new battery. You will need to reset all windows, the mirrors, the sunroof, and you'll have to key in your radio code.
Also, you will get an ESP failure light on the instrument cluster. You will need to turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times to reset the steering angle sensor to make the warning light go away.
Edit: I believe the battery size is an H8 but please verify.

bbirdwell - Agree that the AGM is easily the best choice. Got it, do NOT leave key in the ignition. As for resetting systems, is that going to be necessary if we keep 12 Volts powering the car at all times?
