Kleemann Header Specifics PICS
To all,
Went to Kleemann Colorado Springs this past week and brought back some header info. In the interest of sharing specific examples and facts on this site so that we can all make educated decisions, I decided to take some header pics and some measurement info. It is my sincere wish that others will share as much fact as possible so others can benefit from all of our research, make educated decisions and enjoy our great cars as much as possible. Enjoy.
BTW, it's easy to see why headers make such a dramatic improvement. Cory said he MIGHT have some before and after flow info and I'll post if I get it.
Enjoy

Great detail and appreciate your efforts here to reveal useful info.
Quick question, on these headers, do they bolt right in or does further exhaust work need to be done. it's pretty obvious from your photos that the new headers flow further under the car and diameter larger. what are the mods once screwed to the block?
thanks a lot -

I noticed that the collector is about 2.5 inches and I 'm a bit surprised. I
would have expected at least 3" collector. I wonder what a 3" exhaust front
to back would do for the performance. I know it helped my SBC. (getting rid
of the cat converter helped too). Does anyone know what size exhaust is on
SLR or SL65s?

There is in fact a short downpipe that is attached to the header and is welded up to the stock pipe.
As for the dent in one of the tubes.. I believe that is there to clear the steering rack or some obstruction.
Lastly, if you are going to invest this kind of money on headers, I would greatly recommend you spend the additional $300 and get them jet-hot coated. This greatly improves exhaust scavenging by keeping the heat in the pipes and keeps the exhaust velocity up.

If your headers are black, then yours are jet-hot coated and that is the right way to go.
You can see a pic of the downpipes here:

I got my Kleeman headers jet coated and it is the way to go. With all the cooling issues with a sc engine, keeping a little extra heat in and out of the compartment is a requirement. The dent is for clearance but if you look on the inside of the header the obstruction created by the dent is actually small so the turbulence created should not be a major factor. Just to mention, larger diameter outputs is NOT always better. There are many considerations like low end versus high end, trottle response, etc. etc. etc.

'03 G500, '13 G63, '17 GLS63,
Now that this thread is back from the dead, has anybody installed these headers without any other mods? I have a set sitting in my garage, but I have heard there are issues with O2 sensor feedback.

I am presently in the process of installing a set of headers (k2 set up)Cory said i will loose the front o2 sensors, but he will make allocation in the ecu for this.I will let you guys know how everything went after completion.

I was thinking that exhaust, headers or systems, wouldn't cause warranty issues but losing o2 sensors might be a problem for MB, any thoughts or experiences?
