Road and Track Audi RS6 VS E55 Grudge Match...will they ever learn!!

Full Artice from Road and Track here

I live in fear of them on the street.
I am going to put this to the test very soon. My best time was a 12.2@118 in the Viper (on street tires). I'm gonna see what I can do w/ the E55 on street tires.

I miss my Z. But my timeslips speak for themselves. The E is a low 12 second (12.07, 12.09, 12.15) 115 - 117 mph car. The Z, with the exception of a very strong car and great driver, is a mid to high 12 second, 114 - 115 mph car. There are some great Z drivers out there that can run low 12's bone stock. I give them tons of credit for it. Not easy.
And I am always suspicious of magazine tests on American muscle cars. Too many stories of special "ringer" cars being provided to the magazines that are not representative of the cars you will likely buy. Case in point, it was revealed that the stock C6 has a torque-management system from the factory that either pulls tons of timing or cuts spark on an upshift to preserve the transmission. That cuts your accelleration tremendously. The car(s) provided to the various magazine had that protection deactivated. It no doubt provided for faster and quicker acceleration runs.
It is a feature that we have as well. That's why it takes forever to upshift at full throttle.
Not bashing the Z at all. I had lots of fun with it, and the resources on the internet, and variety of relatively inexpensive go-fast parts, are something to envy. I may own one again some day. I just wanted to pass along my real world experience.

However, delivery on these cars won't begin until fall of this year.
Even the Nitrous ones are running mid 11's....as did DWTBoss with Juice on the our Beast's.
I feel liberated from the crushing fear of Z06's...thanks guys.
This forum is good therapy....it's like tough love.
People are talking about peak power to weight ratios and such but they are forgetting power delivery and traction. The E has more power "under the curve" meaning that it produces more power at lower RPM. Plot out the ratios at all RPMs and you will find a different story. Also, the added bulk of the E aids in delivering all that power. Put drag slicks on them and the weight differences now favor the Vette.
My friend that has the Porsche 911TT X50 was so ticked off when I smoked him 3 times that he called Porsche USA to complain. They asked him how often he drove his car and whether he was a pro. When he said that he drove it 2 or 3 days a week and that he was not a pro driver, they told him that he probably would never beat a E55 in a straight drag.
There is one very important detail most people forget about when discussing performance, who is driving. A better driver in a slower car will win most of the time unless you are driving an E55. It doesn't take much talent to point and punch it.
Some of the current large-bores are geared for about 100 in first.
Speaking of large bore streetbikes, I wish the R & T folks would invite another one for the next 0 to whatever and back to zero comparison.

I am going to an Atco track rental with the Z guys from Z06vette.com nest Tuesday. They are really cool guys. I'm looking forward to it.
By the way, this thread was picked up on that website. Pretty interesting. Most of those guys (especially the guys that I am running with) are very knowlegeable about our cars.
