MB Rollcage Construction

Anyone ever researched whether or not the contruction of the MB canopy could meet requirements for a 4 point rollcage? The application would be for some dragstrips that still use the old NHRA rules requiring one for cars faster than 12 seconds.

you would need a 6pt cage to be legal, and I wouldn't do it in that car. The new nhra rules state that you are certified to run up to an 11.49 w/o the requirement of needing a cage. If you are planning on going faster than that, I suggest getting a more drag oriented car.

Per current NHRA rules, I would need a padded rollbar, not a rollcage until I hit 10.99. Not that it's going to happen, but I am .15 seconds away from the 11.5 threshold so I don't think I need a more drag oriented car.

There is a local track that wants rollbars for anything under 12 seconds. Does anyone have any MB schematics or anything else that would allow me to present the case that current MB construction would satisfy the rollbar requirement?

Derek is catching our man Pete for the wildest mods. Go Derek go!

I blew my left 1/2 half shaft running at Road America last week. New one on the way from Germany. Also, I have some great pics in an upcoming post.

D,

There are lots of small racing companies that do this stuff in the road racing community. Here is a link to a popular magazine. Might help.

Thanks guys. I'm not going to put a rollbar in my MB. I'm looking for someone/something that can make the argument that current MB canopy construction is as strong as a roll bar. Any ideas?
