E55 vs E60 M5 Video
Finally a video. Doesn't look like the M5 pulls away from the E55 until high speeds. Still love the E55!!!

I dont want to start trouble, i love both cars.
We all know the E55 only gets faster uptop, now think about how fast the M5 has to be to walk away from that E55 like that.

This is another link to the first video teaser found on the m5board, but I wonder if there is a video where they race the black wagon, as that one seemes to be faster than this silver one in earlier posts. E55 should have more torque and max power at lower revs than the M5, so the difference is surprisingly big. I allways thought the M5 would be faster only in the beginning. Well, both cars are incredible. Cant wait for the first impartial testing from car magazines...

Zoom in on the last pic & it looks like the silver E55 ran the E55T down from behind. Must be a strong E55 that silver one.
Say, Gustav, why did you give the E55 such a huge head start? Looks lilke ou went full throttle WAY after him.

I did wait for the cone or I waited for his jump. Sometimes I deliberatly waited for his jump with alot of other cars as well. Since there was not real faster road goign car there I liked that sicne I would catch them in the end anyway.

I agree, let's not go down that path again. Looks like BWM finally got an M5 that can hang with the 55. All I ask the M5 guys to remember is that in one year (or whenever twin turbs come out), things are going to change again. Be careful what you say.....humble pie can really be a tough meal.
One thing that I am really excited about is the N/A 55 VS the M5. New N/A is going to be over 500hp so the match up should be interesting. Lower torque but has to higher revs than current version.
Bottom line.....It's not like AMG does not know what is going on at BMW, they are well aware and are working on a counter to it. They won't let us down. Everything gonna be jusssst finnnnnee.

You mention there were 4 people in the M5. That would make that car insanely fast.
1 question though... The video says it was from about a 31 mph roll start - was the E55 in 1st gear or 2nd gear for the start?
The E55 1st gear should take the car to 54 mph. But at 31 mph and you punch it, the E55 will not downshift to first gear.
In any case, that M5 was fast. I wonder how the 65 series would do against the M5.

You are welcome. Since we raced E55 at least 4 times I wonder why he would not go intoi "manual" mode shift and have the best gear. Another race a E55 driver did not want ot have ESP activated and he got far frr behind. I used LC that time if I can remember correctly.
M5 is faster, esp. at higher pseeeds as you see.

Tell me where I lied Impro. And imro pelase do something yourself instead of quoting numbers and if you would do something yourself please document it with video. That could be actually be fun to see instead of writing days in and out.

Is it fair to say that the E55 was side by side with the M5 until around 100 m.ph.? What speed was it that the M5 started pulling way?

I want to see moded kleeman stage 2 e55 with LSD with stock m5, and moded m5! from a stop to a top speed! Now that would be somthing to see eh?
Gustav dont forget our cars are as easy to mod as to fill it up with petrol!!! Nevertheless love m5! I think its a great machine! Miss my E55 tho!
