This is the second time that an RX-8 felt like it was their duty to be an idiot. I'm on I275 south minding my own business on cruise control (70mph) because I've already seen two FHP pulling cars over while I've been on I275.

I'm in the far right lane (non passing) with my exit about 2 miles ahead of me w/ an Expedition next me (the lane next to him was clear about 8-10 car lengths). This yellow RX-8 comes up behind me hard...he's kissing my bumper and blinking his lights...WTF, where the hell can I go????

So now he gets behind the Expedition and does the blinking lights signal...the Expedition wasn't moving either and by that time he didn't have a clear far outside lane to pass.

He comes up behind me again and this time my inner child took over and I dropped to 4th (to get to the sweet spot in our rpm's) and just floored it until I got to my exit. He didn't know what hit him.

Now he should know.

 

From the ones that I have encountered I would say you are correct. All arrogant *****s IMHO. They think they are king of the roads and yet they fail to realize that their are cars out there that could beat them with little to no effort.

 

RX-8s are a joke. He must've felt like a little ****** that he is from that. Nice kill.

Meh, I wouldn't associate the behavior of the driver with the car. Just a young punk trying to prove something.

 

It's where Mazda has positioned the car. Affordable, sporty performance. I had a '03 350Z and it attracted RX8's like nobodys business... When I'm in my AMG's I won't even acknowledge that car.

Not all of them. My daughter just got of high school, straight A's no car wrecks, and worked 25-30 hours a week. She saved for a year, to be able to put a large down payment on one to get her half of the car payment to what she can afford. I've driven it several times and it is a lot of fun, remember when you were young... not all young drivers are bad. As far as beening affordable alot of cars are affordable at $33,000. Once it's up to 1,000 rpm's you would be suprised at how well it runs, very comparable to my SL500. Dairel

 

my old 93 rx7 tt (i just finally sold) was pushing 420hp in a very light car and would crush my e on a road course. of course it'd beat you to death. 0-60 in 4.7 sec ive recorded. those wankel engines are a treat though. there is a guy who did my car. peter ferell super cars who can put a monster turbo in that car and its a demon. he also does 600hp is300's. but they are kids cars and we know that

WTH!!! I think all the new japanese models are wanna be cars.... like G35 ,350Z, RX-8, as well as TL, RL ,M45 etc..... Wanna be luxury, wanna be sporty, wanna get noticed,but actually get none....... I guess if one has been driving high-end german cars for over 5 yrs, he should be able to feel the difference easily and it's not gonna be easy for Japanese cars to catch up....... It's always been like so, Japanese cars are always trying to be flashy and use fake material to compete German engineering....... never like them anyways....

But when it comes to reliability they make many of our new German cars look like crap. I personally am a Honda/Acura and Mercedes Benz fan. I despise anything from Toyota/Lexus or Nissan/Infiniti. If their is a single company who is ready to pounce on the success of the well footed Japanese vehicles it will be Hyundai. Their quality is top notch I must say, the interior is very solid very much like Audi. Hyundai will surpass the Japanese in a very short time and this will be an interesting scene to watch carefully.

I have a TL and love the fact that it drives so well. I have had zero problems with it and the sound system is eons ahead of my HK Logic 7 if you ask me. The materials in the RL are very nice and the fit and finish is just as good as Audi or Lexus IMO. To each his own.

 

My washing machine and the refrigerator are very reliable too! They both have wheels (of sorts) but you won't see me driving either down the road...

I don't know maybe it is youthful testosterone and the fact that you really have to wring the revs on the RX-8 to get the full grunt that makes these Wankel drivers turn into *******...God bless our abundance of torque at lower rpm's!
