Has anybody installed a WETTERAUER Chip in their E55? They are one of the biggest CHIP suppliers in Europe, based in Germany.
They are claiming 390kW/530hp and 850Nm/627ft/lbs torque and Vmax 300kph/186mph from the their CHIP.
Sounds too good to be true? Any feedback of personal experience, not a hearsay / rumour of "a friend of a friend had one of these" nature would be welcome.

My son had a WETT chip in his 2003 Passat 1.8 Turbo and it made a big difference. It was far less expensive than the other chips (GIAC, APR) and gave him excellent results, reliability, and fuel economy.

 

Their pricing for chip tuning on an E55 is not cheap by any standard. In fact, it's absolutely the most expensive I've seen, especially if you do the conversion from Euros to Dollars. I'll call their state-side office this morning and see if I can get some data.

 

IF their figures are true, this is a relatively cheap chip if you look at the "bang for your buck" value.

Kleemann stage 3 doesn't even give you that much torque (835Nm)

 

Let's just hope all that torque is not all talk...

I have asked that before and no ONE has done it...but definately Wetterraer is a good chip tuner...835 number can be true, before thier number for 55K motors were at 555HP since then they've lowered...

I think is quite possible, just silightly increase the boost, play with ingition and fuel mixture...

MKB kit 1 is 540 HP and cosnsists of Optimazed Air Intake and ECU...I doubt that Optimazed Air intake could give more then 10HP at the most...Therefore go for IT...

Some on this board also saind that Rennetch uses Wetterauer to do ECU for them but not too sure if its true ...

 

No they dont use Wetterauer.

A friend put a Wetterauer chip in his C43 and it did little to nothing for the car. In reality the car failed to start for 2 weeks because thy damaged his ECU during the process and the chip was not sodered on properly.

In the end they admitted there was nothing they could do to increase power and they gave him a brand new C43 ECU to replace the one they broke.

Not sure how a chip could raise boost on a komopressor car. Last i check the boost was created via a pulley driven blower. There is no way timing and mixture could give a car a 100+ ft/lb increase in tq and a 50+ increase in hp.

I say false claims on their part.

 

Exactly. It can't. If it could no one would be buying larger crank pulleys.
