Replacement Brake Pads for W211
My dealer said I am close to tripping a sensor indicating new front brakes are needed.
I have 22k miles.
How much should the replacement pads cost? (he said $500)
Are there aftermarket pads that will produce less dust and maintain great grip?

Wow, I was just quoted 470 a piece for new rotors. Only Benz would make rim dusting/killing pads MORE than a precision milled piece of drilled metal.

Porterfield Pads
Check this site out. Porterfield has a great Pad that dusts less, substantial friction increase, won,t fade, Rotor friendly, and will last as long as an OEM Pad. A little expensive but worth it. - Bob

No experience with R4-S's but R4 pads on my W211 E55 turned my rims black in 25 minutes and made my ears bleed. They were great on the track, but terrible on the street. If I were you, I'd try to get my hands on a set of discard pads from any V8 Kompressor car since they all have the same caliper, and send them to a pad maker to strip the pad and put on a ceramic compound. They will stop 90% as well as stock and keep the wheels clean. That's what I plan to do for the next set as I now have a set of backing plates waiting to be sent out.
Whoever said rotors were $100 each and pads $220 must be talking about some currency other than USD. The rotors and pads run over $300 each. The best price I got was from George at Caliber or Carraige Motors (I forget which dealership) which was 20% off retail with no tax and free shipping. 800 437-3361 ext 106 (george)
