i see you guys need a deposit. could someone pm me or post a summary of whats the status now.

1) i need to provide a deposit (got that part)
2) 1st batch (6) to be produced, delivered when? (assume i'm not on that list)
3) 2nd batch, when will those be delivered?
4) prototype, did this ever get resolved?
5) vent or not to vent, again, what was the decision here.

sorry to ask the questions over that i'm sure are covered in the entire thread, but an update would be great. in reply to this or if the thread owner would just update the first post with the latest and greatest info. i'll send the money as #12, just need someone to answer the questions for me.

cheers,
Gareth

P.S. Did we ever find out how much the OEM hood weighs? (what our weight savings would be)
Yes, we are accepting deposits. Currently we have 12.

The first 6 hoods should take 8-12 weeks to be made from the time we get 15 orders. Then they will be shipped. The 2nd batch is approx 2-3 weeks after that.

As far as the prototype, it will be made and perfected before everyone gets the hood. This was discussed in the thread many times already.

This is for the vented hood only.

I did post an update. But you may have skipped over it. To leave a deposit see this link.

Hope that helped some.

i'll take care of lucky #13 hood tomorrow at work.

Gareth

P.S. Still same question outstanding: Did we ever get a weight on the factory hood?

No time to dig through 200+ posts. But I called MB Parts and the Factory hood weighs 38 lbs.

For the last time, water will not be an issue because the vents will be far past any electrical wires...correct?

It should be, it depends on which electical wires you mean. But we can actually position these vents anywhere on the hood. If some wanted to measure and let me know where they would think the best spot in their opinion to place the vents, i am open to some measurments.

Mesh

What's this mesh we're talking about? Forgive me if this is a dumb question which has probably already been answered in one of the 250 replies above.

Mesh under the slits of the vents as in the BRABUS hood. I hope it's well mounted to the back of all 9 or so bars, as it will aid in water dispersion away from the engine as well as stop leaves, seeds and debris falling into the engine compartment.

Nice to see that this might go through! I'm quite happy to see that a nice lightweight hood is being made for probably the most subtle street racer in the world.

BTW: For the guy that said edit your first post, we can't. The ability to edit a post is gone after three minutes I believe.

Long live the king. Long live the E55!

BTW2: Guys order your mbworld decals as well by clicking the link in my signature!

Plus, if Neal did screw you guys over (he wouldn't, trust me) I'll personally kick his butt.

Could we start off by posting a good photo of the BRABUS EV12 hood, since most guys are happy with it, together with an open E55 hood, and compare the vent location with the position of the air boxes and the engine compartment seals (there is no point straddling the vents over the seal, next to the strut tower).
I think that we will benefit the most by placing the vents directly above the air boxes, thus keeping our air intake environment cool!
I cannot find the right link anywhere, anyone? There were some photos recently with the crazy six exhausts, also showing the hood. Maybe there are others?
