Radar Detector on Ebay, advice needed
Hey everyone.
What do you guys think about buying radar detector on Ebay?
I want Bel Pro RX65 one, and they are about 100$ cheaper.
Some say that Ebay purchase voids the warranty somehow, but they offer
3 year warranty for like 30$.
Seems like a good deal.
What do you think?

320-350 new.
Depends on the store.
Ebay - 220-250 with shipping - also new. And you can add 3 year warranty for 30$. Or buy with 1 year replacement.
I just don't know how safe is it. And if warranty will work.
100$ - is like 30% diffrence in the price, which is well, not bad.
RX65 - according to the latest test on radartest.com is the winner.
and it looks good also.

if you dont purchase the detector from an authorized dealer, then the company will not honor the warranty. that is why some ebay resellers offer their own "in-house" warranty instead.
while there is no gaurantee the ebay reselle will be there, finding one that is a power seller and has been doing auctions for a long time is peace of mind.

Thanks. That's what I thought too.
And about radar test?
Where do I look then?
I started another topic about two weeks ago, and everybody pointed to radartest as the best place.
And I've been looking all over for any reviews or tests - nothing.
I subscribe for 5 automobile magazines and NON has any radar detector
test for last 2 years.
So what do you guys think about that RX65 - seems like a good piece.

its a good unit, bel has been in the industry forever. personally, id go with either the 8500 x50 or the solo s2, or if you can afford it the remote installed units. i think the escorts look cleaner and more modern to fit our cars.

I have found from personal experience that V1 although falsing slightly more has more range and will pick up bogies significantly farther away than other units. Many people can't see why directionality is good, they just haven't used it. Once you get used to knowing where the signal is coming from you'll feel naked from then on.
I have no experience with K2 but the cost put me off. I have had numerous Escorts and passports but found the audible signal was not loud enough to hear in my Vette convertible at speed (with a 1000 watts of stereo on). The V1 is loud enough to wake the dead. My Passport couldn't be seen in the bright sunlight with the top down. No problem with V1.
The final thing is the trade in policy. I upgrade about every 3 or 4 years and have not paid full price for a V1 for the last 4 V1s I have bought. (I have 4, one for each car. I won't drive without it at any time and don't like wagging them from car to car. I have had a ticket because of this.)
If you think I'm predjudiced, I am, but because of my own experiences over 30 years of owning radar detectors. Hope is short dissertation helps.

Agreed...
The V1 is always the best for me...
coz i have the stereo on loud...and the V1 is REALLY loud with an ear stinging effect if you turn it up to max volume
The arrow- after u use it..u will not know how you could live without it!
