Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (PS2) are a must for all AMG owners!

I'm just like wow right now!! I thought that the BFGoorich t/a g-Force KDW 2 I had were the best thing other than the fast wearing Bridgestone Potenza S0-3 and Michelins' Pilots, and while it may be true, they seem sooooo ****ty compared to PS2's!!!!

Ride quietness: 8.5-9 / 10 ! So smooth and quiet!
Ride Comfort: 9 / 10 For tires that size, it's wow!
Grip: I have yet to try cornering, but off the line 10/10!!

With the BFG's, Going from a full stop to 60, I would get the traction control light coming on, bogging me down and not letting me appreciate the power.

With the PS2, I punch it from a full stop and it goes!!!! No traction loss, just grip grip grip and it just launches you! Such a HUGE difference those tires made!!

Way to go Michelin!!

FYI I'm running 275/30/19R and 245/35/19F

Pics to come tomorrow

Preaching to the chior Godfather.....preaching to the choir.....(kidding)

I love those friggin tires! I went right from Conti's to them so it was like receiving sight after a lifetime of blindness. Glad you got a set.

Not the rest of you stop messing around and get them at once.

You'll thank us for it.

We all love them! Since we can only get PS2 in 295/30/19 but not the 275/19 or 285/19 in Australia, I am bringing them in by Fed Ex all the way from The Tire Rack in the US, for me and all my buddies in Sydney!
Now, that's what I call brand loyalty!

Problemo with imported tyres is... what if you blow one (unlikely but.. You never know!)?
But of course, you probably did a bulk buy to keep another 2 sets in your garage?

With my PS2s I can still lay a patch 20-40 feet long (about the same as BFGs) and that is with traction control off and a Kleeman LSD.

They do seem to be the most sticky street tire I have had. No complaints here.

That's because you only have the stock 349hp. Wonder what happens to traction with over 600+hp?

I have more tyres and wheels in my garage than Imelda Marcos has shoes in her cupboard...
BTW, it's only one week by Fed Ex to get another one!

You should be able to go to a 285 in the rear and a 255 in the front without any problems. I ran this setup with my old 18" AMG rims before i got the Sytle IV.

If you order through Tirerack, order though this link.

http://www.tirerack.com/affiliates/mbworld/index.html

That way, it's no additional charge to you, but a certain percentage of your purchase goes towards helping mbworld stay up

What the hell is wrong with Michelin in Australia?? They obviously need a decent product marketing person on staff that understands demand economics....

Call Luke at Tirerack (you can find his details in a sticky post in the tire forum on this site) and tell him you want the mbworld affiliate buy and he will process the order on the spot for you. Plus he'll give you really good advice on the best local installer for you. I did all this about two weeks ago and totally agree with everyone about how great PS2s are, and Tirerack was great.

Yes, do it immediately! I swapped my Contis for PS2 on the way home after taking delivery of my new E55!
Go with 245/40/18 Front and 275/35/18 Rear.
Don't let them convince you to buy 265/35/18 Rear like stock. They have much smaller rolling diameter than the 245/40/18 front

DC Aust have not homologated the 19" for the E class through ADR, so they don't offer 19" wheels, period.

Michelin only brings in the 295/30/19 OEM for Carrera S.

No worries, with duty, GST, airfreight, they are still cheaper from the US than locally delivered by 18%. Idiots!

As right as you are, you don't have to bug Luke about all of it, you can get all the information off the Tirerack website and still have the donation to mbworld.

If you guys are looking for Tirerack Authorized Installers in your area, just check out this link.

http://www.tirerack.com/installer/index.jsp

PS2's, although pricey, are the best tire I've ever had. Get PS2's ASAP if you can.

OK - here's my dilemma. Michelin makes Pilot Sport in 285 for the rear of my 99E55 but only 275 in PS2. Which way should I go? I love the PS, especially after I went up 10mm. Do you think going back down 10mm and swithcing to PS2 will be better?

Greg

Yes. You will not feel the loss of that extra bit of rubber as much as you will the gains from the new tire technology built into the the PS2. I've had them both, PS2 is better!

Rafal,
What did they cost to bring in?
How much was the freight?
Thanks.
