Flex Fuel 105 octane
<<Since you were looking for fuel efficiency to keep your commuting costs low, you might find it interesting, especially since having a flex fuel car (one that can switch back and forth automatically among gasoline, E85 and a mix thereof) might allow you to use the HOT lanes without car-pooling!
Many Fords, Hondas, and Mercedes can take E85 in addition to gas, but few people owning them know about it. There's a Saab in Sweden called the 9-5 BioPower, which when it detects E85 in the tank, it adjusts to ethanol's 105 octane, giving you an extra 20 HP. Pretty cool!
Many Fords and Mercedes are now "Flex Fuel", even though most owners have no idea of what that means. There is a fuel mixture starting to show up at service stations, called E85, which is a mixture of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Flex fuel cars can run on E85, gasoline, or any mixture of the two; all without any adjustments being necessary. Sensors detect how much ethanol is present and adjust engine settings automatically.
