Question about cooling guys.....AC
My kids were whining in the back and even my wife was like, "wow, you would like Mercedes had better AC than this"
Only way we could get it to cool down was to run it on MAX LO on all sections for about 20 mins....then we set it to around 72 and it relaxed to about 1/2 to 3/4 bars, but never went lower.
Should I take the car in to have it checked out....or is the E AC a little rough.
You guys in the hot climates ever have the AC system just do down to low and maintain? Our SUV AC is much better. You hammer it to get the initial cool down, then put her on low to maintain.
Thanks as always for the input.
On my car, I have NEVER set the air conditioning fan speed higher than the half-way mark.
My car is black on black so you know how hot it gets inside my car when it is parked in the sun. Once I get moving on the highway it super cools (5 or 10min and I am comfortable).. On the street it takes approx 15 - 20min to get the inside temperature down to where I want it..
FYI.. I set my Air con temp to 20C when it is really hot outside and then have to turn the fan down to 1/4 speed otherwise it gets too cold inside the car.
Short answer is: get your air con checked because I think it should work a little better than that.
I can't run that dark here....cops are REALLY strict on tinting...I can go a little darker than stock, but too much and they pull you over and check the level of tint.....life in **** Mormon Germany.
Aftermarket tint makes a world of difference. I have a 30% tint on my E55 and it is amazing the difference this summer compared to last summer.
I'm guessing Victor has the same experience since his windows are tinted. Although, I don't remember my car running constantly last summer before I had tint. The back does not cool down nearly as fast as the front. The vents in the center console are lame and the vents on the b-frames are even worse so the rear seats don't get much air in our cars. Bottom line...you need tint.

Darren
Thanks......friggin champions.

But, I can tell you that when I get in the car after it has been sitting in the sun, the leather is so hot, you would burn your legs if you were wearing shorts.
The legal tint limits for Utah are shown in the following link. The numbers denote % light transmission:

If you're not familiar with the available tinting films, make sure the film you select is reflective (aka: metalized). The non-reflective films are merely dyed films that will eventually discolor and bubble.
My ex-inlaws used to live in Tooele, so I know what you're experienceing.

I usually freeze and have the Auto mode and temp set on 78. I usually see the fan on speed 1,2, or 3.
I admit if the car has been sitting in a hot parking lot for a long time, it is a little weak. Not how much it cools, just how fast the highest fan speed is... it seems a little weak. But that only lasts for the first 5 minutes then all is good.
Your dealer's answer is stupid. Something is wrong, get it checked.

I mean seriously...that is a little harsh, but all I really wanted when I called was, "Wow, should be working better than that, why don't you shoot it by and we'll take a peak at it" Instead...more excuses and silly responses. Benz is just lost on customer service aren't they.
So yes, when it's cranking non stop...noise is an issue as well.
Most be an AC problem...it just has to be.
Just not right.
your dealer.
Above the digital screen with the temps...there are the 2 vents and in between is a dial that has blue lines on it. I read in the manual that the dial controls the amount of cold air allowed into the vehicle. Any idea if which direction is "letting the most cold air in". Is it when the blue lines are being shown or when they are not.....any ideas. Maybe easier to explain, when I roll the dial up toward the hood or all the way down toward the shifter.....who knows, maybe that has been my problem all along.
Is it something that 2005MY models don't have?
It has a dial on either side of the vents with white lines.
I just snapped a pic of the manual.....see the dial in the middle of the vents......you 04-05 guys don't have that?....weird.
