So last week I blew a tire and bent a rim going down Beverly Glen BLVD.
MB Beverly Hills quoted me $300 for the tire, $800 for the rim, and $120 for a cable that disconnected the brake sensor. Anyway, I called my Mercury Insurance representative and explained the situation to him and how it happened and guess what they said: "Sir, we'll be glad to cover the cost of the rim without a deductible, just send us the invoice".
I couldn't believe my ears, no deductible? What a great day!
Glad to have the beast back, drove for 4 hours straight today!
See ya guys...

Still not sure I would have done it thought the insurance, deductible or not. 1000 bucks in damage isn't worth my insurance going up based on a bs incident. But as long as you're happy and you're back on the road, that's all that matters.

No longer car shopping...
Sounds to me as though his insurance simply treated the incident similar to a broken windshield (crakced glass from road hazard). Generally insurance compnaies will do this a number of times without it effecting their premiums at all.

Usually they have very specific language about that, limiting it to windshields, and many insurance companies, as far as I know, have even removed THAT (windshield) coverage. Like I said, whatever works I suppose.

In Arizona you can replace a windshield 12 times a year, and not get him for a premium hike under state law.. I've done 3 in the past year between two cars, and am waiting on a new w/s for my W211 as we discuss this. 0-deductible, 0-rate increase.

Sounds like it fell under no-fault comprehensive (v. collision) - however no deductable? That sounds strange...

Mercury huh... sounds like something I would do for you!
and this was Mercury... very interesting... no-fault comprehensive how it would have been rated and it won't effect your insurance, they could have rated it as an accident if you stated you HIT something but under $750 damage it's not a rated accident... as far as window coverage, Farmers still has this an a VERY INEXPENSIVE endorsement... but with the plug for Mercury... not sure I can throw my Farmers agency out there... but if anyone is interested in California, let me know... I can TRULY save you some CASH and make sure you're covered CORRECTLY!!!!
