Blue Glass ???

Why do some mercedes have blue glass thats more blue than others ? My glass on my E55 is a slight tint of blue but yesterday I saw a C-Class with REALLY blue glass almost baby blue. I really like the blue color and was calling around to see if it can be tinted that color but nobody seems to know. Any Ideas ?

I know what you mean. I see two "E350s" with the sweetest shade of blue here on base.

i think the c-class cars have the "blue tint" hyped as a special feature in one of the option packages (it is mentioned on the window sticker of new cars, but is not standard on all c-class cars), whereas my e55 wagon has a slightly blue tint, it's apparently not noteworthy enough to warrant mention on the car's sticker, nor is it mentioned anywhere to my knowledge in the brochure, as anything special.

in short, the "blue glass" thing is probably a "sets the car apart" thing that mb's marketing dept figured would appeal to 20-somethings shopping for their first new entry-level lux car; the bimmers don't have blue glass, now, do they?

The C230, C320 sport, and all AMG models have bluish glass. However, the C class models have a slightly darker bluish color than the other models. Why? I have no clue.

Vixapphire is right since given the price point we pay for our cars its not worth mentioning things like this I guess. Psychological game and nothing more than that. The blue against my Alabaster White E55 looks very dark at certain times and there are times when its not so apparent. Perhaps the way the sun hit it or something, who knows.

It might vary from country to country depending on what the MB subsidiary decides to add on its cars as standard features. We get jipped on almost anything here in the states.

Our cars here in the states that dont have the Appearance package on the E or the AMG sport package come with a greenish tint glass, that does miracles in rejecting UV rays and keeps the car cool. The Blue glass works exactly the same way but its just blue.

So C230, C320 sport, E with Appearance or AMG package, and all AMG models come with blue tinted glass. Im sure the ML or some others have blu glass somewhere on them.

Wow your cars are structured quite differently from ours, pretty interesting.

Check out our site here from the states. http://www.mbusa.com

MB , will the new glass ( blue tint ) on the C-class fit the older models? I would be willing to swap the glass on my 98 C43 to the blue glass if it would. In case you wonder why I don't just tint them , its illegal in NJ to have any tint on the front windows.

Actually the W203 glass will not fit the W202. The W203 is an entirely different body style from what you have. I know this sucks.

From what I know, For Avantgarde Pkg. (AMG models) it comes with blue and green is on the Designo Pkg. I check the price also Blue is more expensive than the green one

A different Benz at different times
You should find the blue tint windows on the "C" class Sport, all AMG models, and models with the AMG Sport package.

As far as the difference in shading, The color may appear lighter or darker depending on the vehicle color and interior color.

For example, I know that the blue tinted windows on a C350 Sport sedan in White with say ash or stone interior will look brighter than the same vehicle with charcoal or black interior.

Same holds true for a Black vehicle using the same interior configurations.

And given the same interior color the windows on the White vehicle will appear brighter than the ones on the Black.

Just MY 2 cents worth For what it's worth !
