Just drove by the dealer and saw a truckload (10) of Z06's being unloaded at the Criswell Chevy dealer. They look mean! Anyways, I asked if any were for sale and the reply was "no, they have all been reserved". Wonder how they would fare on the street against some of the modded E55's on here. Time will tell.

Roughly the same HP, less torque, but almost 1000lbs lighter...

The Z06 does 0 to 60 MPH in 3.7 Sec. and the 1/4 mile in 11.7 Sec. @ 125+ MPH. The Driver must know how to drive the Z06 to perform at this level, so we can always hope that the Modded E55 may still have an advantage out in the real world. - Bob

Yeah... I think Z06 is just a different class.... from what I can see:

E55:
Easy to drive, expensive to mod

Z06:
Hell to drive (to its potential), cheap to mod

So for avg. driver w/ E55 to be up against good driver w/ stock Z06, the E55 has to be modded like Derek's (11.13 for Derek - which I think should be above avg. driver).

So stock vs. stock, you just need to pray you find a lousy driver. But most likely, you'd find a lousy driver w/ modded Z06.... so you calculate the odds

If Z06 is later found to be as reliable as 997TT, I think I don't mind getting this car. Can you imagine if you put $50-70K in mods on Z06 to make it the same price as 997TT? I think I need to go to a driving school first

I've heard the Z06's are really tough to launch. If you've got a modded E55 that runs in the 11's or even low 12's then I'll bet you win most of the stoplight drags. I hear the Z06 gearshift is not a piece of cake either. Remember, the numbers the auto mags are reporting are best runs, after a number of tries, using professional drivers.

Now, going from a roll, especially a highway run would be a different story. If the vette's in the right gear, I'm afraid you're toast, even if you're highly modded. You'll need over 650 HP at the crank to approach the vette's HP/Weight ratio at the rear wheels.

From a roll, the new Z06 would destroy the E55. From a dig, the E55 would most likely win in the 1/4 mile unless the Z06 was driven by a professional.

Haha you wish my friend. a C5 Z06 can hang wtih an E55, with a good driver Z06s have gone 11.99 stock. the new Z06 is reported at an 11.8, 11.7 so far in magazines.

One magazine trapped @ 127. I am not a big believer in magazine racing, but I guess that's pretty much all there is at this point. Either way, 125 or 127, from a roll, they will be tough to beat.

Ha Ha, you just repeated what I said: With a good driver(professional caliber) it should do well. Without a good driver, a car with that much power will be difficult to launch due to excessive wheel spin.

From a roll yes, it would be a slaughter.....but new Z06 is supposed to bear to launch, while ours are easier to point and shoot. Major auto mag launched many times before they finally tipped it into the 11's.

Course a few cheap mods on it and goodnight.

I look forward to any new Z06 going against me. I would say from a stop or a roll they would have a very hard time pulling on me with my mods. Should be able to get some real world head to head results at the drag strip next month if Alex's comes in.

The new Z06 is a great car. I am waiting to see if they pull the trigger during second year production on the rumored "Blue Devil" with over 600HP.

My best was still only 11.64 on regular gas WITHOUT nitrous. I can consistently run 11.7-11.8. I think my car would hold its own with the new Z06. I will be racing my E55 against my new Ford GT. We shall see!
