........traction is a big problem. I now have 15inch rims with 26/8.5-15 MT drag slicks to use next racing season. Still, running radial tires in front and wrinkle wall slicks in the back in a heavy benz is not totally worry free.

Ted,
Did you install the chrome trim around the dash cluster (speedo, tach, etc)
yourself or did you have someone install them? I really like the look and see the items on Ebay but I am unsure how difficult it will be to get them on there.

.............I got them from ebay and they were installed by an independent MB shop that were doing other work on my car. I don't even rember if they charged me for that particular install since some much else was being done to the car. My point is that I doubt that it will be expensive to pay a shop to instal it.

Man, I'm with Ted when it comes to the wheels -- I think they look cool! Yeah, you saw a lot of that type of wheel in Detroit suburbs in the 1980s/90's (on corvettes and the like), but when something's right, it's right. They could probably stand to be a little bigger, but that's a minor point. I think they set the car off nicely. Then again, I'm not a fan of the spindly newer custom rims a lot of fellas on here put on their e55's, and notwithstanding the weight (I'm not a trackster), I'm partial to the stock rims (on both the earlier and current e55's) because they look pretty classy too. Yours are mean-looking.

The only thing I'd disagree with is the door handle inserts. If they leave adhesive residue when you remove them, get some goo gone! They look kind of awful on any car, but particularly a black car with minimalist chrome like yours.

btw, love the grille!

hot car, man. I'm a fan of that body style (especially in those ext/interior colors) and your specimen is really nice. Regards,

vic

Absolutely stunning job Ted. Unfortunately, I agree with the others regarding the wheels (stockers I think would suit it better).

Curious, what other Engine upgrades (other than the blower) have you performed. I ask because those dyno numbers and track times are very impressive.

Anyway, drive her in health and congrats on a superb makeover.

Edit: I just realized this is an older thread that I had never seen before.
Regardless, beautifully done.

Eclassy,

It is an 00 E55. Carbon fiber interior was custom made.
