$1,000 for Sirius is just plain dumb...
Hey Guys,
Well I want to put Sirius in my E55 and my CLK500 and I really don't feel like paying Mercedes Benz $1,100 for each car with a DISGUSTING satellite receiver drilled into my precious trunk...
I remember when I had my E39 M5 and paid $180 for Sirius, including equipment and install (it was connected to a Kenwood Excelon In-Dash TV)
What does one do to get Sirius in their Benz without feeding the already loaded MB USA???
I know there has to be a way to do it for at least under $600.00
Any ideas?

Out Of Control!!
The 06's are not pre-wired, so it will be difficult to install MB equipment. I love my Sirius and the way the artist and title are displayed on the nav screen, the channel in the speedo display, and the functionality of the steering wheel buttons. I think mine cost $600.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Anybody that doesn't have Sirius in their Benz should have their car taken away. Get it at any cost. There are ways around the cosmetic issues! FM radio is worse than torture. For the love of God people...

If you have the receiver and antenna, then all you need to do is call Sirius and open an account. Press the SAT button and you will find out if you have the hardware. I think you press the services button to get the radio serial #.

I had the stealth install inside the car. however the reception was poor, so i bit the bullet and had the antenna placed on the trunk. it really is not that bad. for 2006 you have to order the sirius from the factory so they will put the antenna on the trunk anyway.
but i agree, sirius is must have. i don't use CD's anymore.

As far as doing this for under $600, I find this hard to believe. As far as I know, the unit itself costs $600 from MB.

On '06 E55's, if you didn't have Sirius installed at the factory, the car is not pre-wired. You can still have it installed, but you may have to find an aftermarket shop to do the install. You can also have a stealth antenna install. I had this done & it works great.
