Any of you have this happen...

When starting my car up on a cold start...it POURS blue smoke out of the exhaust for about 3 seconds and then quits. And it smells horrible! Anyone have an idea? When my car gets out of the body shop in the next week or two I'll take it into the shop. I called my buddy who is a tech at MB and he says he thinks he remembers a bulletin being posted about this and will check it out before a bring it in to let me know. Anything you all might know helps. Thanks again!

Matt

Did you ever find out i f no2 was used on your car?? I remember something about it being mentioned before?? If yes, probably has something to do with it.

Yeah, no ****...new years ain't going so well! Anyway, yeah NO2 was used. It was Hilsman's car...search his name on here and you will see the pics from his install. Anyway, it smells kind of like oil burning, smells HORRIBLE.

Also, I start it up tonight and this time it was very little blue smoke and now just white coming out, but still had a bad bad smell.

I would get them to put a new engine in your damn car or better yet just Lemon that POS E55 you have on your hands, and get yourself a CLS.

Well if it turns out that it requires a new motor...I wil have it lemoned and if they won't, then I'll sue them...I'm tired of the bull**** I've experienced with this car...and I know it's just mainly this particular one...and I know that the wheel and door aren't their fault and mine, but that isn't the only problem that I have had...and I would LOVE to have a CLS 55...but they are a little pricey, I'll probably wait a year or so whenever the CLS 63 is out and the CLS 55 price is lower.

Burning oil at start up usually means leaking valve seals. I think someone on this board had a similar problem and the dealer changed his seals. That did not fix his problem and they changed the rings (or just one, as there was one that was cracked). I believe that fixed the problem.

In order for you to be successful under the lemon laws, the dealer will have to fail 3 times to fix a significant problem. At least in the state of TX, it works that way. Good luck.

yep that is oil. You have a bad valve seal or a bad piston ringland or ring.

I think you could consider the burning of oil to be the problem and 3 failures to fix that should qualify under the lemon laws. I have read several posts about MBZ buying back cars. Maybe you should complain to them.

Yep, I would say it has one or more cracked rings. Thats probably why the valve seals didnt fix it. No2 has a way of cracking the rings.

I thought the lemon law only applied to new cars??

Also, sorry about your luck, that door pic almost made me cry..

Good luck

NO2, 'nuff said. I don't think it'd qualify as a factory fault if there were mods on the engine...

First off, it's N2O. Nitrous Oxide. Not NAWWWSSSSS, not NOS (that's a brand name). Other acceptable terms are giggle gas, spray, juice, etc

As far as the smoke, my E55 hasn't done it, but my SL500 did. If I would move the car around a few times, like when washing it, it would spit out smoke on the 2nd or 3rd startup. It only happened when I would cold start, move it out of the garage, shut it off immediately and then restart later to move it back into the garage.

It was most certainly unburnt fuel from the cold start, as the car was brand new.

Matt - good luck with the car. Sorry you've had so many problems with it.

I know how wet systems work, but there are still risks coupled to it no?

And, it still counts as a mod doesn't it?

True. But the problems need to be important/major enough to effect re-sale of the vehicle in order for the lemon law to take effect.(engine problems like this are a sure bet, just not a squeaking seat) And the repeat repairs have to happen within a certain time frame. Each state might be different.

Besides, even if your vehicle does not fall under the lemon law guidelines...contact Mercedes with the problems you have had with documentation to prove it...they will not have much choice.
