Thumbs up

There Is A Fix For The Supercharger CHIRP, Remove The Clutch Assy. After Measuring The Gap,it Will Probably Be Around .045 Or Better, Remove Shims As Needed To Get The Gap To About .030". Set It Up Like A A/c Compressor, Also Lightly Sand The Contacts Points And Apply Lapping Compound To Those Surfaces. The Bolt Has Right-handed Threads And A Impact Gun Will Be Needed To Get The Clutch Bolt Off. The Dealer Should Know About This, I've Done Two Dozen Of This Repair Alone At The Dealer. What's The Intercooler Problem? The Pump? Or?

The Chirp Noise Is From The S/c Clutch Slipping Causing A Hesistation On Accelleration As Well As The Abnormal Noise. I Don't Think There Would Be Any Reliability Issues Other Than After The Gap Gets So Big The Clutch May Not Engage.i Have Not Seen A Clutch Gap So Big That It Doesn't Engage Yet, But After So Many On/off Cycles It Could Happen. Common To The Old A/c Compressor Clutches W/ To Much Air Gap, They Wouldn't Engage Till You Smacked Them A Pry Bar Or Similiar Tool. Hope This Helps.

You Don't Adjust The Tension, You Adjust The Clutch Gap. There Are No Mb Instructions On This Procedure, But If You Are Mechanically Inclined You Can Do It. Also The Correct Measurement For The Clutch Should Be .25mm-.40mm Max. I Was Doing Three Things At Once, Sorry. If You Need More In-depth Instructions On How To Do The Repair, I'll Post It.

Fix The Chirp

Raise The Cooling Fan Up, 24mm Socket To Remove S/c Bolt,go Through The Fins Of The Electric Fan. Remove Washer, remove Clutch Hub Assy. Washers Are On Snout Of S/c. Usually 4 Washers, I Remove 2 Of Them. Clean The Mating Surfaces Of The Pulley/clutch Assy.'s, Apply Lapping Compound To Contact Surfaces, Light Coat, reinstall Clutch, Washer And Bolt. Torque Is 88nm. I Just Use The Impact With My Calibrated Finger To Tighten. I Also Apply A Little Teflon Sealant To Bolt Threads To Act Like A Loc-tite.remeasure Gap .25mm-.40mm. Go Out And Have Fun. This Was A Shop Foremans Meeting Issue Early In 05. The Dealers Shop[ Foreman Should Know About This. I Did A S55 Today.oh Yeah The Bolt Is Righty Tighty And Lefty Loosey And You Have To Hold The S/c Clutch Assy. I Use My Hand Then Hit It With The Impact. Hope This Helps.

Thanks MBTEK.

I don't mind the chirp, actually I like it. I want to know if the chirp means that I am losing any type of performance? Does it mean there is a slip or a late engagement or something? I would do it, if there are performance gains to be had, but not for just noise.
