pricey

When we got our 04 E55 we wanted to change it out to match the roller center console we had in our E500 and found out via the spec sheet from the dealer that it is a pretty big job and wan't even sure if they could order all the pieces needed. Said it wasn't worth it in their opinion. We never ended up doing it and now rather enjoy the butterfly center console

true.... just wondering if I'm missing something... only had the car a couple days, but when I have it open, and my phone in there, when I rest my arm there, it falls in the open space....

While I'm not a fan of the sliding trap door myself ( ), I loved the butterfly console. It flowed better with the interior design.

For those who drink coffee in the morning, the roller console is king - the cupholders in the 04 were absolutely awful. With the roller, I can drive reasonably aggressively and my coffee stays in the cup, not all over my interior

I looked into it. It is a custom job. the parts WILL NOT match up all the way up to the dash and electric features in the center console. Seems llike it would be a retro-fit, but it isn't. I've grown used to the roller style, mainly because of the morning coffee thing that was brought up. I just liked the butterfly look better. Oh well.

Why?
You guys must be the only market in the world to go to this hideous new console with two "bucket holders" diguised beneath a wooden roller shutter- yuck! You can't even rest your elbow on it!
Everybody else still gets the "old" and very attractive arm rest/ split console, with a sensibly sized drink holders neatly folded in front of it.
Why would you want to change - so that you can have a "supersized"
"bucket" of coffee to go?

Have you ever thought about adding the wooden armrest for the 2004? Performance Products makes a nice one in both Burlwood and Birds Eye Maple.

One of the reasons I bought a SUPER clean 04... I didn't think the roller center console was confortible or strong enough with two little boys jacking with it all the time.,,,

...sais who??? We already changed several 05/06 consoles back to pre 05 consoles in order to get the mercedes center rear monitor installed...and that was pretty straight forward.

yes they are...the so-called 05/06 consoles are ONLY used in NA spec cars...
The NA spec CLSes get their own style center console as well...same reason as why the NA spec Es get their own console: cupholders.
Personally I dislike the way the phone sits in the 05/06 US center consoles.

So Steve, with the 04 console we can add a DVD monitor to play for the rugrats in the backseat... now will the EuroComand control that or do I need to add a DVD player... need to do something either in the center console or headrests... but not sure if I need the EuroComand to control those items or if I will need a separate DVD unit... thanks

greetingz,
My '06 is pre-wired with VCS and phone and I can see that the phone is inserted upside down in the console, not the best ergonomics.

Steve, when are you coming to change out that hideous thing!?

the mercedes rear monitor gets connected to the euro comand in the front (for which the comand has to have the proper connectors and that is not even standard on a euro comand) and the rear monitor shows the DVD in the comand (& optional TV) reagrdless wether the comand itself is switched on or off.

WOW!! My apologies. I pushed really hard when I first got my '05 to convert it over and I guess I was wrong. Hey Steve, since we are on the topic, can you tell us how much is the cost. While I do like the cup holders of the roller system, I agree that the comfort AND phone access is WAY better in the old double door. Sorry for the mis info, guys.

mail us - info@MBenzNL.com - the price depends on the interior color and woodcolor of your car (as we do have some armrests in stock which are half the price of whatever has to be bought new).
