Okay, on mercedes-amg.com is says that the SL55 now has 517hp and 531tq. Also, check out the interior pictures on the site...It has a actual "paddle shift" steering wheel. The steering wheel is really thick, and the concole is CF. Why is it that the E55 seems to get the updates last.We don't even have an 030 option. Why?!?!?!

Racetimer is single lap/multilap race timer function built into command driver information center. Records and displays lap times.
And I'm still skeptical that they got the torque up to over 500 foot-pounds on that engine -- although I would very much like to believe it(!)

Why is everyone always talking about the 030 package? I don't get it. $9500 is way overpriced for what you get. You would better off buying a set of HRE's and one of the aftermarket tuners steering wheel (i am sure kleemann makes a nice one or brabus) since most people are upgrading the car with go fast parts anyways. Can someone explain the difference in brakes that are listed?
thanks

So that's where Brabus got it... Brabus has the EXACT steering wheel for the E class cars, I checked it out this weekend @ the LA Autoshow... $1800 with the wood they were to have called me today with the all leather or alcantra combo but didn't hear from them... it made my factory AMG feel like a toothpick!

The 030 package has "composite"brakes (not carbon)
Composite means that they have a seperate hub and rotor (see the EVO brakes for pics)
As an owner of the CLS55 with 030 I am very satisfied with the pricing of the package. Once the break in is complete (on the LSD), I will let you know if it helps the 1/4 miles times if any - best in my stock E55 was 12.169 at 115.1mph.
030 Package
19" AMG multi-piece twin-spoke light alloy wheels
(FR 8.5x19 ET 25 255/35R19 RR 10x19 ET 28 285/30R19)
Vmax increase to 300kmh (186mph)
Multiple-disc LSD including reinforced final drive unit
Internally-ventilated composite front brake discs (380mm x 36mm)
AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel in black leather/alcantara
Composite means that they have a seperate hub and rotor (see the EVO brakes for pics)

We've engaged in this discussion about the 030 package in other threads in regards to the other models that it is offered on.... IMO you can't beat the price going aftermarket - and that's apart from the fact that this is factory AMG, with all of the adjoining engineering, and factory warranty and service, etc.
It's a no-brainer guys!

If it comes with the LSD its worth it, HOWEVER, the mbusa.com makes NO mention of an LSD in the 030 package for the cls55. For the front brakes, the steering wheel, and the brakes that it DOES mention, its def not worth it. I dont think its mentioned when building an e55.

If you do a thread search, you should be able to find the many posts, and several threads which have been discussing the various 030 Performance packages available. Here are my updated notes on model Package contents from last week:
Performance Packages Components
SL55
AMG front apron with larger cooling air intakes
19" AMG multi-piece twin-spoke light alloy wheels
(FR 8.5x19 ET 30 255/35R19 RR 9.5x19 ET 31 285/30R19
Vmax increased to 300kmh
Multiple-disc LSD including reinforced final drive unit
AMG Nurburgring sports suspension based on ABC
Internally ventilated composite front brake discs (380mm x 36mm)
Additional engine oil cooler
AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel in black leather/alcantara
SLK55
18" AMG multi-piece twin-spoke light alloy wheels
(FR 7.8-5 x18 ET 37 225/40R18 RR 9-8.5 x 18 ET 30 245/35R18)
Vmax increased to 280kmh
AMG Nurburgring sports suspension
Internally ventilated composite front brake discs (360mm x 32mm)
7-piece CF interior trim
CLS55
19" AMG multi-piece twin-spoke light alloy wheels
(FR 8.5x19 ET 25 255/35R19 RR 9.5x19 ET 28 285/30R19
Vmax increased to 300kmh
Multiple-disc LSD including reinforced final drive unit
Internally ventilated composite front brake discs (380mm x 36mm)
AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel in black leather/alcantara
In each case above, the "value" of the package over package cost for similar aftermarket mods is quite obviously favorable. With the exception of the wheel preference (which some may not appreciate) any one of these individual package items would/should be very desirable on the car. If one were to go aftermarket on the wheels, the cost would once again rise to the point where the package is comparatively quite a value.
I do not yet have confirmed package contents for the upcoming E63 - but based on the above contents I would expect a similar array, and a similarly great value....
Unless you DON'T want all but one or two of the above Package content items, it really is a 'no-brainer'....

The 030 is well worth the money as you also get a full facotry warranty on it. Trust me I tallied the parts up for adding these parts via aftermarket and it comes in over 15K easily with labor. So its a bargain IMO.

Just out of curiousity. If the 030 on the CLS55 does include these things, why not say it on the details of the package when "building" it online?
Even when you go into the CLS55, and just click on options, it only lists the following:
030 AMG Performance Package details
$9,500
19" AMG Two-Piece Alloy Wheels
AMG Compound Front Brakes
AMG Alcantara Sport Steering Wheel
Are we absolutely sure the 030 we are getting in the states includes the LSD and this info didnt come from europe?
