Rolling Fenders

To any members on the forum have you rolled your fenders? I have 20's and have experienced some rubbing on the outside wheel and the top of the fender. How did you do this? Did you just take it to a body shop or get a tool to do it yourself? If to a body shop how much did it cost? And are there any pics of your car's fenders?

Thanks

I had this problem on my 1997 SL500 . When I put 20X9 on the front and hit a bump or did a u turn it would cause the tire to pull on the innner lip of the fender and actually pull it out. My buddy who owned a body shop rolled them in and put a couple of very small welds on the inside of the fender so it would not pull out . It worked well . I know it took him a few hours to do this. So it can be done .

you don't need to roll the fenders if you have the proper fitment,i have 245/30/20 and 285/25/20 with a kleemann lowering module and have had no issues with rubbing.if you are running 255 in the front and 275/30 or 285 /30 that is most likely the problem, because of the larger diameter of those sizes or incorrect offset.

I'm running 285/25/20 in the rear on 10.5" wide HRE rims on an E500. And the rears are rubbing especially at highway speeds.

My fenders are already rolled. If I am not mistaken E55s have the fenders rolled from the factory. I know mine are.

Whoops sorry didnt see you had a E500. Rolling the fenders is pretty easy.

I have heard, but not confirmed, that the paint on the W211 body style is not conducive to aftermarket fender-rolling. I was told that this greatly increases your chances of having the paint crack/fall off (for lack of a better term).

most people who know how to roll fenders use a heat gun to heat up the paint. Even then you can still have cracked paint from the fenders being rolled

If you're up to it you can probably rent one of these at your local rent-a-center - otherwise here's another suggestion but I don't know if they still offer this service or not...
