Excuse my ignorance but.. Are the cams in the W211 E55 the same as the CLK 55 ??
I need a set of stock W211 cams so that he can make the necessary lobe changes. If the profile of the CLK55 cam is not identical to mine I cannot use them.
I'll see if I can confirm this.. Thanks for your help!
Bet he has some cams around as well.
Give him a buzz.

Right cam P/N 261 02 005
These are engraved on the cams The Pictures will show all the numbers, I think if you add the [A 113] in front of the above p/n . The dlr will be able to help you . The cams will physically fit , but if you are regrinding them. ,Specs on these cams would not matter
Just an Opinion. Hope this helps

I tried the Web cam regrind route. I believe you got to provide them the specs. They have not done much in the way of MB stuff. Also look into the SLR cams. It is a different grind than the M-113 AMG Kompressor or N/A mtr
Here is the P/Ns for the SLR cams

Wow! Thanks for all the great info.
JakPro,
Thanks! I'll give Cory a shout and see if he has anything lying around.
JamE55,
Mums the word for now on the specs. I'm talking to 3 different manufacturers about this.. I am in the information gathering stage so until I have some concrete info no point in saying anything.
I'll share whatever info I have once it is solid and I am moving forward with it.
When i was doing my homework on the cams someone from another board mentioned about how the kleemann cams are the same with the SLR. I tried to get more info but he didn't want to release anymore info. That's all i was told.
I will use the SLR cams as the basis to get new grinds made if the costs are justified. Right now it doesnt look too good.
The guys who make the cams need cores, and that is where the high costs are for our cars. Right off the bat you have to spend $2,200USD just to get a set of cores and then on top of that pay for the re-grind.
You guys are saying that Kleemann uses the SLR cams... That would be rather difficult because you have to supply a valid VIN # in order to order them. The only way they could do that is if they are using a company to copy the SLR cams and use the stock W211 ones as the core. Does Kleemann keep the stock cams when you do the upgrade and send them to Denmark as a core? Or do they return them to the customer?
What I could do is take my stock cams once I install the SLR cams in my car and use them as a core to start. I would then be able to get those re-ground to the new specs (matching SLR) and then sell them as a re/re with the next person (you send me back the stock ones once you install the new ones). This will start the chain and from then on there would always be 1 set available for sale.
If the prices dont pan out and the cores can't be had then I will just stick with the SLRs for my car and be done with it.
PTE: Will send you an email tonight once I get home.
