Switched from Castrol Syntec to Mobil 1- made a difference!!

For some reason the dealer where my '00 E55 was serviced last put Syntec motor oil in- I just changed the oil myself and went with M1 0W 40. I swear the car has more power, and idles more smoothly. Maybe I'm imagining things, but I have always used M1- and I thought I would share.

What bloody dealer is this?

As far as I am concerned, MBUSA has always told its dealer to use nothing but Mobil 1.

I'm a believer in Mobil 1, as is Mercedes...
Seems strange a MB dealer would use anything else

BMW is using castrol. couldn't be to bad

Thumbs up Your Not Dreaming!

Using 0-W40 Mobil 1 will allow more power to the rear wheels because it is easier for the oil pump (less HP required to run the oil pump) to pump the oil thru the Motor. This is because the oil has less viscosity and is a superior lubricating film. - Bob

Benzes MUST use Mobil 1.

Hehe. Sometimes cars run better after a service... IF THEY NEEDED IT SO BAD!! How often do you change your oil and how harsh are you on it? Maybe you should just change it more often. It's not a good sign when you see a difference (especially smoother idle) after an oil change. It is a tell tale sign that the oil had broken down.

On other cars, I have noticed a dramatic change from changing out a dino oil with 20 easy miles to a synthetic, and a noticeable change from Mobil 1 to Redline.
