Where is the best/cheapest place to buy HREs

Doing some wheel research and wanted to know if there is already an opinion on where to buy, and where to get the best deal.

Thanks, guys

Whatever you do don't go to Wheels Boutique.

There are local wheel shop that can get great prices on iForged. Let me know if you want their contact info. I don't think they sell HRE's.

I purchased a second set of the wheels from them and returned the first set for a credit. I went as far as to dispute it with American Express. Only after that did I receive the credit I was due. It was just a big mess.

In addition to that, on the first set I paid for etched metal center caps which I never received. On the second set they charged me $1,000 to chrome the lips which was a total rip off.

Overall -- just a very unpleasent experience.

I would like to formally retract my statements above. Ben of Wheels Boutique personally contacted me to explain his position and sincerely apolgize for the mix up.

Well, then who is the one to get them from??

I think I am going with 19x9 front and 19x10 rears. Still not sure on offset or tire size. Can anyone tell me what setups work? I do not want to deal with rubbing, etc. The object here is to go wider, not necessarily taller.

Oh yeah, to stay on topic, which dealer and why?

My friend's company. His name is Raja. He deals with pro atheletes in the DC area and has a very successful aftermarket business. He's an authorized HRE seller nationwide, excellent prices. Tell him, Amer sent you.

Good luck.

Did you see that they tried to sell them on EBAY earlier this month for $3500.00? (Buy it now)

I asked if they were yours and they said that they were.

No, I didn't see that. Did they end up selling them?

To be quite honest, I would actually probably buy from them again. Both times the wheels arrived very fast (6 weeks) and both sets were at great prices.

The whole credit thing was an issue, but in their defense there was hurricane damage in florida that shut down UPS and FedEx terminals and that's what caused the big mix up with the return. So it wasn't really Wheels Boutique's fault. Just a series of unfortunate events that really ticked me off.

All in all, Ben was always very responsive and gave me a heck of a deal on the HRE's.

No man, your posts were perfectly in line.

Dallas? Too far, maybe if I go to UT I'll visit. I know a bunch of F-chatters and lots of MBWorlders are in Dallas -- that's a fifteen minute (for me.. ) drive from Austin.

So risky...are you saying that Neil is the sponsor out of the ones we are hearing about? Does anybody who the MCHE55 is affiliated with. It is crap and I worry about people who do business that way.

I believe he either works for or used to work for Wheels Boutique. I met him and Carlos at SEMA in 2004, they seemed really nice in person.

Anyone who is unsure about our company's reputation is free to call HRE and ask about our account history. They can tell you the amount of orders placed, payment history, high credit, etc....You can also search the forums under our company name to see feedback from our customers. You may also search for the same on the other forums 6speedonline.com, e46fanatics,com or audiworld.com where we have countless unbiased references.

FYI:

19x9 et 35 (you can use 19x8.5 et 28 same frontspace also - saves about $100 and fits the same tire)
19x10 et 35
245/35/19
275/30/19
optional rear 285/30/19 is using et higher than 37. This setup is virtually the same OD as the factory setup 245/40/18 and 265/35/18.

Lots of places to buy HRE wheels. For me, when you buy from Peter at Wheel Experts, you get it all... best prices, great service, peace of mind and other things.

I have bought 4 sets of HRE wheels from Peter in a little over 2 years. Each set arrived at my door in the time frame quoted and fit perfectly.
