I am leaning in this direction...I don't agree with the poster who said there is a tax beenefit to leasing. MY accountant says the numbers are the same: we can depreciate the car or write off a portion of the lease that's used for business, but it's similar.

Crazy good deals when combined with the special MF. Many dealers play dumb or just don't have a clue. As I said before if you EVER even considered this car, now's the time!
Did you go for it? $4k under invoice is excellent, where did you find this deal? You can PM me the dealer info if you prefer.

I did not go for it. I ended up getting an M5 (at a good deal) since I already have an E55 (W210 albeit). The best deals on an E55 are typically at dealers that have many cars who care more about volume than maximum profit. Try House of Imports or Fletcher Jones. The deal I got was specific to me...I do have some leverage and I've been a good customer but I know these dealers are still willing to deal below invoice...you just need to arm yourself with the right information and be prepared to negotiate.

Thanks for the info and congrats on the M5! I'm in S Florida.

Well I'm sorry to tell you but that is absolutely NOT true. I don't want to spend time conducting a "How to maximize your money" session but even a newbie financial advisor will tell you this

One dealer I reecntly talked with said "cost" = MSRP less gas guzzler tax less destiantion charge less 12%. That's about $10K on a $90K+ car. Anything less is eating into the gas guzzler and destination charges, which some will do to move onwards and upwards.

Newb here... but extremely excited to purchase my first AMG!!! However, I am having an insanely hard time in Northern California finding a dealer willing to sell an e55 at invoice. The best deal so far has been 3K off MSRP. Anyone have any suggestions for a dealer in Northern California that they negotiated at or below invoice? Your help is appreciated.

Any reason you have to use a NorCal dealer? You'll have a better chance going through a dealer in SoCal. Would then make for a nice road trip and still have plenty of money saved for the gas

Call Kyle Martin at FJ 949-718-3103, he's willin' to go $8K off MSRP but it will cost you a few hundreds to ship it up to North CA though.

Does anybody know of a dealer in the Washington DC or Philly areas willing to give a great deal on an '06? I've been focusing on trying to find "new" '05s at bargain prices... but if deals are to be had on '06s, I'd rather do that...

Will do... thanks for everyone's feedback. I am hoping the FJ of Fremont, CA (NorCal) will honor that deal. I have a 03' MDX i'm trading in. It would save me the road trip and the miles on the E55 lease if I can get it up here.

Can't wait!!!

I just spoke with John Baskin at Fletcher Jones & offered to buy an 06 E55 at 8K below MSRP. He kind of waffled & said he'd get back to me tomorrow so I guess we'll see. He may be skeptical since I've only spoken to him on the phone. Are there any other SouthCal dealers willing to drop the price this much?

With this lease deal, I may be up for a 2nd E55. Had an '04 for a year.
No lease experience however.

1) Can I negotiate that lease payment with nothing, nada, zilch down? Will the dealer pick up the 4k or so cash down requirement? Is some payment for tax, license, etc. required on a lease for drive off?
2) What is the over mileage fee? .15 or .25 or?
3) Are these leases assumable?

Thanks

As far as I am aware, the surcharge is $.25/mile. They may be assignable, but they won't let you off the hook.

2006: But, now I am leaning towards leasing a new 2006. The best discount I've seen so far is in the $11-12K range, which seems like a pretty good deal, although they may come out with incentive cash in May/june when the E63s arrive.
Where are you finding the $11-$12k discounts? Thanks!

The longer you wait, the less likely you will find a LOADED E55 with all the RIGHT OPTIONS you want... They are dissapearing quickly as people are taking advantage of the special MB lease, even though MB extended it till the end of the month...

Question

My dealer is asking me to pay tax on the $3,000 cap cost reduction and the $785 aqusition fee...is this right? I know I have to include tag and lic'ng fees but they want $5207 at signing not the $4794 as indicated below. Here's the offer:

The E55 AMG was designed with one purpose: to put you in an entirely different state of mind. With race-proven AMG performance credentials, the E55 AMG is truly a performance sedan unlike any other. Includes bonus Premium Package.◊
$999/mo. for 39 month lease10
$4,794 Total cash due at signing* Trim Package includes leather seat inserts w/MB tex, privacy glass, roof rails, Tele Aid. and HomeLink. Sunroof Package includes electric sunroof and rain-sensing wipers.

◊ Premium Package includes front active ventilated seats, left and right front drive-dynamic seats, COMAND DVD navigation, power rear-window sunshade, and 6-disc CD changer.

Yes you do pay tax on cap cost reduction Not 100% certain on the aq fee though. Have them reduce the cap cost by the sales tax

Thanks for the quick reply. Here's my deal and I'm in S.Florida (it's hard to get dealers here to give it up).

$1700.00 under invoice (Edmunds shows an invoice of $300 less anyone know why?) MSRP $91,055 my cost $83,154 ($7901 off)
.00125 money factor 58% residual. Payment $949.27 incl tax with $5207 cash due at signing which includes first month payment, $3000 down, $795 aquistion, tax on cap reduction and aquisition, lic and reg. I wonder whay MB say's the total cash due at signing is $4794???

What do you all think?

Sounds right. I assume this is for 39 mos? Remember with odd terms like that you end up paying an extra year's registration ($$ in CA) for only 3 months. As I mentioned before, you could get a better discount in SoCal, but what's a couple thousand dollars Use this to verify the numbers the dealer gives you:

39 mo's and 10k miles per year. I was offered a better discount by my broker in NY $10k off but I want to see the car before I sign. I'm just waiting for the VPC to release some cars; not sure if the delay has been due to the new SL550 getting ready to launch on 4/15 or not???

Thanks

That sounds right... Every deal is DIFFERENT. You can tell them that you only want to put down $4794 as stated in the MB lease but your monthly payment will probably go up by a few dollars...

ok, way too much info, but how much of them are accurate?

what i want to know is, no matter you bought, or leased, how much you REALLY got off the msrp when you bargained on the selling price? 10k is about right? anyone got significantly more than 10k off??

btw the guy who said he got 21k+ off msrp and bought a new '05 for like 63k do not need to reply. i will bet anything that deal is not for everyone.

At the end of the day, you just need to arm yourself with enough information to allow you to negotiate the best deal possible for you area. Trying to verify what deal is accurate or not is a waste of time IMHO. Every deal may be different as someone said...the time you spend trying to get the same deal the next guy did will probably make you miss the window of opportunity. And when you lease, the selling price (capitalized cost) is NOT the only important variable you should be concerned with. Find your car, make your deal and enjoy it! There's ALWAYS a better deal out there...don't chase your tail endlessly trying to find the next best deal. Just my $.02.

By the way, I found a new '06 for $40,000 off MSRP
