Where to race near Seattle?
I'm thinking of trying out drag racing for the first time. Does anyone know or recommend a place to go near Seattle, Washington?
Do I need any special equipment, like a helmet, or anything else?
What are the typical fees and what do they provide?
Thanks, Ken
). I'm pretty sure that you do need a helmet, because E55s run under 13 seconds. But don't quote me on that. Google SIR for more info.
I found them on the web. It's now called Pacific Raceways. The web site is:

They have a very nice tutorial written for absolute novices that was very helpful. I'm going to have to give it a try!
Anybody in Washington state from this forum go there? If not, I might be the lone E55... hope I don't embarass our reputation. I'll post slips, good or bad.
I used to live in Seattle. I did a couple track days there, but not drag racing (did go as a spectator though). SIR does tend to get a fair bit of ragtag rice racers, so beware. They recently renovated, I believe. Have fun!
At the track, it's usually windy. Extra jacket would be a good idea as well.
Drag radials will be useful since the E55 has so much torque.
I am in Seattle as well and have been wanting to run the E55 down the 1/4-mile.
Let me know when you plan on going, maybe I will be able to join you.If you plan on changing your tire pressure, tire pressure gauge and air tank would be useful. If having numbers on your windows bug you, you might want to bring towels and windows cleaner.
Most racers who don't know about the E55s will probably look at us funny. After you run, they will likely be confused.

I've also not done the drag strip at SIR (now Pacific, but when I say PIR, I think of Portland), but I've gone through many tires on my 993 out there on the full course. (Ok, and I've done a little bit of free grass cutting between 3a and 3b. Too much throttle anyone?)
I haven't run there in a little while, bit it's a fun track.
