Age old question: Brabus vs. Kleeman

At a performance shop today which carries both Kleeman and Brabus. Owner said Kleeman is "best bang for the buck" but the Brabaus K8 kit will "walk all over Kleeman stage 2". This was especially aggravating since I already have the Kleeman Stage 2 on my car.

I thought the published numbers favored the Kleeman Stage 2. Well now I am really confused. Does anyone currently run the Brabus K8? Any 1/4 mile times?

Brabus K8 has only ECU and Pulley upgrade, so there's no way it can walk over a K2 car with ECU, Pulley, and headers. He's probably somking something weird to make a comment like that.

K8 will walk all over K2? Owner must be on crack when he said those words.

I think only the price tag of K8 will walk all over K2, coz you can probably get a K2 with LSD and Lowering Module installed by Cory for the price of the K8 kit.

Believe it or not, tuner said the K8 is good for high 10's in the 1/4 on street tires That the headers on my car may effectively lower the compression ratio thus reducing some of the low end torque and that off the line the K8 has considerably more punch.

high 10s are SL65 territory

A fully tuned Renntech is running mid-high 11s:

A KLEEMANN / EVOSPORT tuned E55 running 11.389

He probably figured the number 8 was higher than the number 2.

This, K8 is better than K2. Hehe.

Hmm! I see a lot of opinions with no hard #s. No HP #s. No torque #s. And most importantly no 1/4 mile #s. I have also heard that Brabrus K8 will smoke Kleemann K2s. I can't/won't comment until I see some #s though. I also believe that Brabus is more than ECU and pulley upgrade. I was told by a tuner that Brabus replaces ALL the pullies. Hence smaller supercharger pully, larger crankshaft pully, etc... Does any one have some actaul facts?

I agree Steve. I want to see the numbers! Ultimately, I am not trying to bash Brabus. In fact, I am greatful that reputable companies like Brabus and Kleeman have invested in the R&D to make our cars so much fun! I am sure their are advantages to both systems...But lets see the times.

Aren't their any Brabus K8 folks out there who can give us their review of the system...good and bad?

..........Very good question. Think about it, have you ever ever seen 1/4 numbers on any Brabus car? Brabus has done an incredible job of marketing without performance numbers.

.............Because of the way the AMG V8K's are put together, no tuner is replacing the s/c pulley. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors here.

Dude - you are comparing a W210 to a W211....not a fair comparison at all..

I'd recommend going with Renntech over both of those, imho. Renntech is more expensive than Kleemann, but around the same price as Brabus.
