It's been a few weeks since I first reset. During this time I've had a few hundred miles in SoCal traffic and my car is starting to feel sluggish again. I am going to do another reset. Are there those of you out there who do this somewhat ritually to compensate for congested daily driving? For some reason I was thinking I wouldn't need to do this again so soon.

Most poeple dont know that the door affects it, so when they do it with the door open they say "it doesnt feel like it changed anything". I just want to make sure that people dont make the same mistake.

Guys on my e55 ecu reset with the battery brings 50whp back no joke. I just did it again today and timed before and after with gtech. before 13.9 1/4 mi and 5.6 0-60 after 13.3 1/4 mi and 4.7 0-60
so frustrating,, this cant be normal
i already changed 02 sensors front, spark wires, spark plugs, MAF
and the ECU still slowly after about 5 days of driving dials down power....
could knock sensors be bad and because of this ECU retards timing after a while?

Tried out the ECU reset. I noticed something else with the reset. I had a problem with my sunroof after I let the battery completely discharge. Basically the sunroof wouldn't open. After doing the reset it now opens however it only opens a couple inches each time I press and hold the button down. Found that interesting.

For the sunroof, open it all the way and hold the button back for 10 seconds...then close it and hold the button forward for 10 seconds. It should work fine after that.
Do the same thing for the windows.

For the Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
Is that 1 click or 2 clicks?
and Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
is that all the way back to where you can pull it out BUT DON'T ACTUALLY PULL IT OUT?

I turn my ignition until I hear first click, press the gas pedal down and count to 5 slowly. Then I turn the key all the way back but don't actually remove it until about 3 minutes afterwords. This works for my C55 and it worked for my C32. I make sure my radio is off and my door is closed while doing all this. Definitely feels more aggressive afterwords when I drive. I do this everyday I drive the car..

Okay, I want to ensure that I have this right, and that everyone is doing it right as well. So let's get some definitions straight.
There are THREE positions that the key can stay in.
Position 1 (OFF/RELEASE) - All the way to the left. This is the only position in which you can remove the key.
Position 2 (ACC) - One click to the right, the engine is not running in this position.
Position 3 (ON) - Two clicks to the right. Everything is on in this position. The engine can be running when the key is in this position, but will not start until you turn it to position 4.
Position 4 (START) - The farthest to the right. The key will never STAY in this position; it requires force to turn it here and it will turn itself back to position 3 if you let go. Turning the key here engages the starter to fire the engine up.
With those positions defined, where do you turn the key and press the pedal? Here is how I understand it.
1. Get in the car, close the door.
2. Insert the key.
3. Turn the key two clicks to the right, to the ON position.
4. Press the gas pedal to the floor. Hold the pedal for at least 5 seconds.
5. Turn the key two clicks to the left, to the OFF/RELEASE position.
6. Release the gas pedal.
7. Do not remove the key for two minutes.
Now, here is what I need clarification on.
* Is step 7 accurate? Can you remove the key, after you've done the pedal press/release? Or do you need to leave it in for the entire two minutes?
* Are my key positions accurate? There are three ways I've seen people do this...
1. Turn key to ON, pedal down 5 sec, turn key to OFF, pedal out. Leave 2 minutes.
2. Turn key to ACC, pedal down 5 sec, turn key to OFF, pedal out. Leave 2 minutes.
3. Turn key to ON, pedal down 5 sec, turn key to ACC, pedal out. Leave 2 minutes.
I assume method 1 is correct. Can anyone verify all of this?

For something relatively simple it would be nice to know a definitive answer to the process - including whether you have to leave your doors shut for the 2 minute wait...

Phwoaaah! I just did mine and after a quick test drive had to come back home to change my underwear!
This car just rips up the tarmac and the orange ESP light (which I hardly ever see unless I am taking a sharp corner too fast) stays on for 100' in a straight line after launch! I really struggled to keep it on a straight and narrow on a suburban street.
From now on, every night after parking my car in the garage, I am going to
"tune it up" so it's ready for the next day! Thanks for the tip!
