I drive my car pretty much just back and forth to work, really no where to strecth its legs on my route, so my car acclimates to my stop and go driving. I do this procedure usually on the weekends, and it REALLY makes a difference.. The yellow triangle stobes through the first 3 gears!! ![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)

Out Of Control!!
A little off topic but I just realized that I ran my best time the same day my battery died and I had to get a jump. My first pass I ran 11.48 bouncing off the rev limiter in 2nd gear. I'll try this ECU reset at the track next time

I thought i did this last night, but i was wrong, because i tried it again today, and i was shaking uncontrollably. I've never felt my car like this. It flies. This is the jet that i bought. This is the beast. I'm just pisse* cause i have midterms this week, so i cant spend too much time driving aimlessly.

Cool Ill give it a go on my 2008 W204. I stumbled on this link and remrber noticeing a few days ago that my upchanges lagged - presuably cos I drive like a granny most of the time.. Seems tho from the conversation here that it only affects the learning of the Transmision Control unit. I wonder if the same precedure works on my SLK. That - I dont drive like a granny!

Unfortunately this trick does NOT work on the 63 models. I used to use it on my C32 and my friend's S55 with a noticeable difference, but in my E63 I just can't feel enough of a difference to say it works. I asked a tech at my local dealership, and he said the programming for the new 7Gtronic is completely different and they (the techs) have a lot less control over it compared to the 5-speed.

'04 Silverado Z71 - sold all my Benzes and need another!
Did this on my W210 E55 and WOW! Also did it on my 03 E500 and it does pull hard but not as hard as the E55 obviously, lol. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
But, I have the Sprint Booster in my E500 and had it in my E55 and it feels like that all the time. I mean the Sprint Booster makes the car feel like the ECU reset, it always pulls hard! Now with both of these, fugetaboutit...

I read someone else (oldgixxer) with a 63 that the reset is used right before his 1/4 run. I've used it several times and it does change the shift points as far as reducing the time at which the transmission upshifts. Right before the reset the upshifts are extremely fast and after the reset the upshifts seem spaced out more evenly.

ECU Reset
I have a Mercedes C200 which yes i know is only a baby merc but i jus tried this ecu reset thing. Which was unbelievable my car feels like a totally new car. its not only quicker but it is sooo much more responsive as your goin round corners and stuff.. i jus put the key in pressed the gas peddle right down then the SRS airbag light on the instrument cluster flashed took the key back out nd that was it.
I never thought my car could make it to 100mph so fast!!!!!!
one unbelievable trick!!!!!!

That's the first time I've heard of that happening.. All the procedure does is reset the adaptive values in the tranny and ECU. It has no effect on seats or anything else.. At least, I've never seen that happen before.

2003 E55 AMG
Worked too well...
Ok, whoever came up with this trick owes me $124, the price of the ticket I just got.
I tried the reset last night, having owned my E55 for two weeks now. I had noticed that sometimes I had to really pound on the gas to get it to downshift and go.
This morning, I left on my normal commute to work, and was very conscious of shift points. Unfortunately, I have a 10 minute drive just to get to the freeway, and it was busy, no chance to accelerate. So I'm thinking "great, I've reset the tranny only to train it to drive at 12 MPH in bad traffic.
I finally got to the freeway, and there were slow cars in the right two lanes, but a clear path to the left lane, which was open.
I dropped the hammer, and it jumped, great acceleration, felt wonderful. I looked down and was going 80, and backed off, checking my mirrors just as an unmarked HP came roaring out from his hiding place behind the van in the carpool lane.
I always get a little adrenaline jolt when I see highway patrol. In my BMW, I would just downshift quickly to get back down to 60, in the Benz, I had to jam the brakes, since I was just in C mode, two button clicks from M and a few downshifts.
He followed me for a minute, and I knew he didn't get me on RADAR since my Passport had remained silent the whole time.
Sure enough though, the lights came on and he approached the car.
"License, reg, proof of insurance..."
"Here they are sir"
"So you got up to 80 on that crazy merger - what were you thinking?"
"Sorry sir, I just got the car and am still getting used to the power". (I'm thinking - "Well sir I just reset the ECU transmission memory and wanted to test it out", but figured that wouldn't get me very far.)
I think at this point he looked up at the radar detector and realized that a) he would have a tough time citing me for speeding since he hadn't actually clocked me and he knew that I knew, and b) I own a radar detector, so damned if he's letting me off without a ticket. So he said:
"I'm just going to cite you for an unsafe lane change - if you had taken the time to look back when you got on the freeway, I'm sure you wouldn't have jammed it like you did. This can be a life lesson for you".
Life lesson, I'm thinking? When my son died, that was a life lesson. When I was locked up as a teenager, that was a life lesson. A $124 ticket for an unsafe lane change isn't a life lesson pal.
Anyway, I'll fight the ticket as I always do (no ticket on my record for 8 years now, knock on wood). Maybe the life lesson will be his when I extend the court date as far as I can then subpoena him right under the deadline
.
If I have to pay the ticket, I'll send the bill to the author of the original thread
