*** Recall, 03-05 E Series w/ SBC Brakes, #2005-110001

The only good news here is I didn't do the other recall that requires the ECU flash yet, so I guess I'll do them both at the same time...

I hope the dealers were aware of this new recall when all of you went in for your ECU reflashes... otherwise you're going to have to visit again. So much for timing...

This is for 03-05 E's only. I got one for my 320CDI and my E55, both 05s...

Funny I have the same recall letter but it was from last year? Already had the fix done too.

WTF!! This is starting to get annoying? I must say that I was very anxious to take my car into the dealer when I get the prior recall letter. I can't say that I am nearly as enthusiastic now. This is becoming a serious hassle. Why does it take them so long to figure out these problems?

I had the recall done on my SL500, and my parents on their E500 4matic wagon, just a few weeks ago.

Since I am considering an E63 as a potential next car, does it also have Sensotronic Braking? It's probably a core part of the W211 architecture so probably too far fetched to hope that Mercedes has ditched this PITA system beginning on the '07 model.

Funny thing is i got this letter today, but it came in my father's name! NOT MINE, who owns the car. Explain that one to me. The vin is mine, the title is mine, but the letter was addressed to my father. Great records, MB!

And I was just in the shop 3 weeks ago.

The timing does kinda suck. You'd think the guy in charge of the ECU flash recall letter and the guy in charge of the brake letter might be a little more on the same page and send both letters at the same time... align the recalls so people aren't going back and forth every few weeks...

left hand... right hand...

They stagger these recall notices so that the service departments don't get slammed... With the ECU issue, I got my recall letter for my SL55 first, and simply made appointments for the work to be done on both of my sleds in the same week. When I brought the E55 in, the service advisor told me my letter hadn't even gone out yet...

Agreed, Steve. I just got my letter in the mail yesterday. I was at the dealer 3 weeks ago for the last recall. I guess if the dealer is getting my car again, they are going to put in a new intercooler pump and relay while they are at it.

UPDATE - Dealer called to schedule appointment and told me about yet another recall for a voltage regulator. At least he caught it in time.

For those of you that are getting the brake service, insist that the advisor check for ALL active recalls.

I received my letter today and had the ECU update taken care of 3 weeks ago. I am a bit aprehensive about taking my car back to the same dealer after they damaged a front tire and wheel and ended up replacing both front tires and one wheel. Well, maybe ....................if they damage the other end. At least then, I would then have a matching set. Better yet, I think I will go to another dealership.

Here is my letter. If it is not readable, it says that the secondary air injection pump relay could malfunction. The recall upgrades the software and replaces the relay.
