OMG!!! I feel your pain man. My baby got hit last weekend as well.

How bad was it? Any Picts?

At least you should be able to hold your dealers feet to the fire.

Hope it all works out.

Damnit, my wife got side swiped in a parking lot with the E55 as well last night. Whats with our E55's getting hit and banged up all over the place.

One place gave me an estimate of $5K. It includes nano clearcoat and all OEM parts.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your car will be as good as new or insurance will give you a good amount of skrill for it.

I did the same thing with my front right Kinesis... just barely touched, but the curb went through it like butter. Me so sad.

I have found that one of the biggest downsides to owning a nice car is other people. Granted my C43 is no $100,000 car but it is beautiful and somewhat rare...best thing I own basically. I was hit a little over a month ago by a 90 old guy who ran a red light and tapped my rear quarter. So the response I got was "did I hit you" scary huh? Second response was "well you were going pretty fast" equally scary. The guy ran a red light. Case closed. The car is back and everything was taken care of and done right. Including the extensive drifting and e-brakes I was mastering in my two weeks of driving a rental nissan altima

I find myself very nervous around other cars and the fruitcakes that drive them. People just don't pay attention or they simply don't car that someone has something nice and to respect it. I park far from others, and if a mini-van or **** box parks next to me I pull right out and park somewhere else. I've already replaced my side moldings from dip****s opening their doors into mine. Some people are just bad news.......yet they haven't killed themselves damn. Nice rant huh?

I have become too **** about these kinds of things as well. I need to let go, especially given that I am leasing this thing, and therefore turning it back in.

With my CLK55, I would touch up the dings by repainting, and when it can to resell the car, it looked beautiful, but I got seriously haircut on resale because parts had been repainted, even though it had never been in a "real" accident (defined as a collision over 2 MPH).

I don't think they hit you for that with a lease: in fact, I think they hit you for big dings that aren't touched up.

But right now, I am almost afraid to park the car or drive near a curb, and am overly sensitive about other drivers in the vicinity.

It's just a car...and it's just money.

BTW, on the touch up front, does anyone know if the special "flecks" and depth of the designo graphite are somehow superhard to match, or is it a question of just buying the right paint from MB?

So sorry to hear your story. I feel bad for griping about my car being in the shop for a week after a flying piece of tire took out the hood paint. You are right, though, it is just a car and it is just money. No use letting it ruin your life. Ruining your day...possibly.

I totally agree... when I've been pulled over by a cop for speeding, I'm perfectly comfortable saying "yup, I'm trying to get away from all the morons... write me up... its better than getting tagged yet again". And its true. Since I've become more offensively minded... not an A$$hole speeder, but rather an avoider of groups of cars, parking far away in the parking lot, etc... I've had a perfect track record. Before that, all in Los Angeles and the vicinity:

- 1985, t-boned by a guy running a red light, car totalled. Van Nuys blvd.
- 1986, Christmas day, 10am. You'd think it would be one of the safer times during the year. 70 something guy pulls out in front of me on Valley Circle. Only mild head injuries, car almost totalled... it was never the same after repair. Oh, and the 70 year old was drunk. Drunk XMAS morning and driving.
- 1987, showing off my new car, lady decides my lane looks nice... problem is she's on the other side of the street and is now going the wrong way - head on collision. She's heavily medicated and didn't even know she crashed. Head injury again, friend's knee goes through the dash... missed those airbags, let me tell you. Brand new car NOT totalled, but should have been, repair shop for 5 months.
- 1991, Lady and an early 1970's monster Chevy Nova (read: tank) runs red light and t-bones me on the driver side. Nordhoff in Northridge. Above mentioned car officially totalled, finally. Major head trauma, detached retina, many operations, vision never the same, chronic neck and back pain... and I'm not even 30 at the time.

Moral: People are complete idiots. I drive faster, I avoid groups of cars, I never go right when the light turns green, and I drive faster. I drive large cars, and could give a **** about gas mileage. If I were in any econo box in those accidents I'd be dead a couple times over. Sure, I would have saved some money on gas, but I'd also be DEAD! So, I got an E class because they are among the safest cars in the world:

http://www.autospies.com/article/ind...0&categoryId=9

No more bodily harm for me... at least in a car. Not a single incident since my 1991 mentality change. Fingers crossed, and wishing you all the same. So, while it sucks to see them damaged... and REALLY sucks to see a recently repaired one get nailed again, we still should be thankful we have these cars amidst a sea of complete idiots...
