S63 TT or not??

Check out some of the posts in the S class forum. https://mbworld.org/forums/s55-amg-s65-amg-s63-amg-w220-w221/151004-s63-information.html
Some folks are saying that the upcoming S63 will be a Twin Turbo. It is expected out early in calendar 2007. This is not too good for us N/A E63 buyers and causing me to rethink my upcoming E63 purchase. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance!!

2007 E63
Why are they saying it's going to be a twin-turbo? Wait a minute, I want to know more about this source, claiming it's going to be a TT.

Question Who is this source?

in the S forum post, two guys "ajf1" and "whoever" seem to have some insight into what might be in the cards on this.

You should read the email from Rob A. again and then let us know how you and some folks can explain the S63 twin turbo.

"For the new Series 221 S-Class, we plan both the upcoming S65 AMG (V-12) as well as a replacement for the outgoing S55 AMG (V-8).
Although the new vehicle has not been named in public yet, you can probably guess that the AMG V-8 S-Class will be based on the new generation "63" AMG engine. I cannot reveal specifics on this model to you yet, but I can promise that its performance will be outstanding and it will take advantage of many of the new features found on the new S65 AMG (compound brakes with sliding caliper design for example). No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
There will be 2 turbo versions of the 6.2L motor ... into which bodies it goes is still not clear - but suggest Hammer 1 into E and CLS, Hammer 2 for the S and SL.

Also, I dont think the current E series will get the 6.2TT1 - it will be saved for the W212.

Read this ...

Mercedes Benz
as per MB's paperwork for future W221 vehicles, the S55 is being replaced by the S55 once again. The S65 is already replaced by the new S65.

The motor in the S55 is going to be the same lump seen in the 07 SL55k. The factory has scrapped the S63 TT package for now and will likely bring it back but not as soon as we all had hoped. The non TT version lacks the tq needed to move such a large and heavy vehicle so the old, very strong 5.5L Kompressor motor is being put to use once again.

The lit. sent to dealerships lists future W221 AMG models as 07 S55 and 07 S65. Sounds simple to me and AMG has all but given a press release confirming this.

The S63 is already listed in the Mercedes diagnostic system. Therefore it is in production. It uses engine controller Version 9.7

That was incorrect. The new S63 will likely be presented at Detroit in Jan or even Paris this Sept.

From everything I have read over the past year, we are stuck with the N/A til at least 2008. I think the twin turbs will be released with the 2009 models in 2008.

Just guess, but just not enough talk right now about it to be that close. Benz makes mistakes a lot, but they sure know how to play the rumor mill. All the "rumors" and "sightings", such as the new C or Cl pics we all have seen are all designed for press. Why else would they slowly remove the spy covers as we get closer to the reveal.

Just not that many rumors about it, but they are out there which leads me to believe it is a few years out.

When we start hearing more, "this just in from Benz insiders who wish to remain", then it's getting closer.

Course if the N/A tanks hard, they will shift production for sure.
We'll see.
