New Header Dyno

I finally installed my headers and got a chance to dyno. This is just the header no software changes. Primary Cats have been removed.

It made 479.85/533.93 uncorrected and 490.87/546.19 std correction.

My original dyno with ecu and pulley is below

There is a 24 degree temp difference between the two days. So all in all I'm pretty satisfied with the preliminary results.

I was also able to record the speed tracer boost graph below. It looks very wavy not sure if its belt slippage or normal.

NICE DYNO

Got a question...with the SAE = 1.0 on your run how does the uncorrected 479/533 figures above raise up to 490/546? It appears that the high bar - 30.37 makes up for the high 94 temp...your 490 is 2.3% higher than the 479...I would expect the uncorrected to be SAE = 0.978 ....what am I doing wrong here?

The standard correction factor was 1.02 for that run.

The higher numbers are in reference to the old SAE standard, which was 60 degrees F and 29.92 in/Hg for temperature and barometric pressure, respectively. This correction factor is commonly referred to as STD correction. When applied to his header run, this correction factor will produce a higher result compared to the uncorrected values.

The new SAE standard (SAE J1349) uses 77 degrees F and 29.235 in/Hg. His header run was at 94 degrees F and 30.37 in/Hg. The higher temperature of his header run was offset by the higher barometric pressure, which made the uncorrected numbers equal to the new SAE standard.

Does this help?

Header updates

Rflow306 ; Glad to see you are out from under your Car. I'm sure it was quite the undertaking project.
The heat has been murder down here . Your 30th dyno run shows 94.8 degress F. The Humidity has been over 92% everyday. Those numbers are not bad considerion , the weather. let me Know when your Guy comes to town to do the recalibration . QUESTIONS

#1 it seems like alot of guys leave out the primary cats , but leave in the Secondary Cats?? I'm aware that most of you guys , use some type of simulator . I would think that you would want to use a good ,large race cat at the down pipes and off the very restrictive secondary cats?? If you are worried about a CEL , When you use the Secondry o2 sensors ??. I only got CEL on the dyno pulls. . Never on the street runns or @ Moroso.

#2 How is the passenger cabin exhaust noise , Around town Or at Highway speeds. ?? .. It'
has got to growl Nicely at WOT.!!!

#3 Did the Boost pressure drop a little ?? If it did , my Guess is that the IAT or manifold temps dropped also. Thats a good thing. No latent heat from a restrictive exhaust.

#4 If you are thinging about cams . lets do it before the Recalibration I will schedule my work to be in your hood . for a couple nights , we will get them installed. may in 2 nights . Its easlier than you thing. Check with Oklahoma Foreign (1800-462-2446) for some Valve covers get them powered painted in advance.

#5 Thanks too Grumpy666 for the explaintion of the NEW SAE Standards

Happy 4th to all ___PTE___

This helps very much! Thank you. I was unaware of the two different standards and how they actually differed.

Is the entire new car auto industry now using SAE J1349? Is this at all related to why OEM HP is now rated at each pony vs. 5 ponies?

1: Crank numbers to me are irrelevant unless you dyno the engine on an engine dyno. As to which numbers are correct they all are for comparison, i like the uncorrected numbers because they will be the closest approximation of track horsepower.

2: Yes cel lights still come on but i figured something else out concerning the O2 simulators. I will most likely just program the ecu since i have to make some changes because of the headers anyway.

Did you try moving O2 sensors behind Secondary cats ???
