I heard good things about the GSD3 tire also but I've never tried them yet.

You could also check into fitment with Bridgestone S03-Pole Positions. I have mounted several sets of these on different cars, and to tell you the truth, I was always happy with them.

I hear ya - I often have a problem with trying to switch from OEM rubber on some of the cars that I own.
I would be surprised if you can't get a good tire from Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, or Goodyear-
Have you checked the option of going with Pirelli's?
Last option is a new set of wheels....

The Re050a is definately built in the sizes of 2553519 & 2853019. That is the oe tire for the sl55pp & the sl65. Another premium option... would be the new Yokohama Advan Sport.. I replaced the Re050a's on my car with the Advan Sports on my 06 Sl55 after 2,000 miles to try them out and they are excellent also. In fact both tires seem slightly more sticky and smoother than the ps2's which I have driven on my 04 E55. Both the Re050A and the Advan Sport are immediately available..how can I be so confident they are? I'm in the tire business , I checked today at my store.. and these are sizes which are common sellers in my area and on top of that.. they are the sizes on my personal car.

???? My TTR link shows $306 for 285/30/19 RE050A! Where did you get $462? That's more than PS2...

Throwing an alternative into the mix Dunlop SSR 's ... more toward the semi-slick side - but apparently work fine in the wet - ALMS cars use them for wets !!!
Reading further mbe not ideal for street as in same category as Pilot Sport Cup's... so maybe the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx.... tirerack has them ranked 1 overall, but the PS2 has a higher dry grip rating...

S-03's are good stuff, I have them on my other rides, they handle like on rails with them. You wouldn't regret in getting them.

Get the S-03's -- they are great tires.
They will need about 1000 miles to break-in before they are real smooth; but they do very well on all but grooved concrete and steep speedbumps.
Mine always lasted longer than I thought that they would on the street.
If you use them on the track either have them shaved or wait until they've worn below 8/10ths of an inch in tread depth....

Right now I had my car put back to stock height via Star. I'm getting the Renntech module installed next week and I will adjust the car height to the way I like it. After a bunch of research my tech and I decided the toe needs to be adjusted. The factory spec toe we feel may be causing the tires to constantly look for a place ride causing the jiggle. If this all corrects my ride then I will stay with the tires. If not then I will probably try the thinner 285 rear tires. Right now the 12 inch wide rubber in back looks hot so I want to keep them if possible.
I am leaning toward the Yoko Advan because of the great things I have heard from many people including forum guys. I also am looking for quiet tires. It seems that tires are a crap shoot. Retailers should let us try a set (for a few miles) like shoes to see if we like them. When you’re paying $1200 to $1500 I don't mind paying extra bucks for a couple of remountings to get exactly what I like. That way you wouldn't have to wait 20,000 miles to correct a bad choice. How about it Venders!?

Conversely, "toe-in" makes the wheels a bit "pigeon-toed', which renders the car more stable driving in a straight line but harder to change direction quickly, such as in a slalom.
These adjustments, together with camber and caster form the trifecta of a good wheel alignment matched to the vehicle's suspension, tires and your driving style.

Thanks, Rafal! Wondering now how to know whether my alignment is correct or not. I don't think I have the greatest "seat" to feel the subtleties of less-than-favorable handling. I think my car handles okay, and the tire wear is not uneven.
