I am getting the Style IV rims coated for a really good price, so i think it will need to be a color shot (all rim and lips). Since my car is Obsidian, do i get black rims, or some other?
I was thinking to get a gun metal grey, but what shade, or any other ideas??

i personally like contrast...so on a black car, if you're going to poder coat the entire rim, i would leave it silver. now, if the lips were to remain silver or polished, that's a different story. then you could do just the centers black or gunmetal

I'm pretty sure a two color (they are 1 piece cast) would cost enough to make it not worth doing. If this were my final setup, then I would want a brushed aluminum lip.

What would you think of a silver that is just slightly darker than stock?

Also, the rims are scratched up some. No rash, but looks like a strong cat got pretty pissed.

A very small lip. I could have the entire rim painted and then polish up the lips.


These are the stock rims, in a 9 and 9.5 width.

Id like to see how gunmetal would look, but a lighter shade. I think anything too dark loses the look, unless the lip is polished for contrast.

I was planning on it, but my photoshop'd pics aren't that interesting, so I thought I may tone it down. i assume James don't care what color I pic as long as it is an easy job (i.e. entire rim). You think?
I'm now thinking of a dark silver or very light grey.

Anyone know what the color code is for the magnesium look rims on the SL65? I think I am going to ask him to do that. The black is scaring me a bit.

Definitely with polished lip. For me, it makes a tremendous difference. The contrast lips brings out the wheels much better and match the chrome trimmings of our E55. The rims are color match to the tactite grey of the car.

However, aren't you going toward the black out look on your car? Then a single dark color for the whole rim will probably work out better. I would vote for some good quality black chrome. On your car it will make it look tough, mysterious, and major bling, but still maintain the black out look.

Dropped the car off today. They are going to do a dark silver. My tuner will have some samples for me to go look at to make a final decision, but i think i want a little contrast, since the entire rim will be blasted and painted.

It is just how my "tuner" rates the colors. They have a street I, street II, and race. the race, lets no light through and assumes you have the bulbs gone. Our cars have very bright lights, so i wanted Street II.

Pics will come this weekend. The car is now stripped down.
