Come on guys.. Who said anything about making them solid?? I know that the engine flexes and that the tubes cant be solid... On page 3 of this thread I posted a pic of the type of tube that would be constructed.. this should jog some memories..

You have a stock airbox so yours will be part of the next shipment that is coming.
I'll have timeline in the next day or two.

The engine slightly rotates when the accelerator is blipped, and the engine is not rigidly mounted to the subframe. I would think any rigid CF tubes would have to allow for some flex and movement of the engine (and with it, the lower air boxes). The engine is definitely not static when it's operating and on the road. But I'm sure your engineer already is considering this. Isn't he?

Thanks! I'm getting some sleep..
I'll be able to get more sleep once these airboxes are out of here and in your hands.. LOL.. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Had a hell of a time with Canada customs and the damn custom airfilters for some reason. I guess they didnt like where the came from or something.. who knows...
They are expected to release the filters to us this morning anytime now.. Once that happens they'll go into the boxes and the remaining 4 stock TB airboxes will be shipped out.
I havent taken any more deposits on the tubes; only the engine cover right now. Hmm.. I think you are paid up on the deposit for that.. but.. I'll check.
LOL.. I can put you on a pre-authorized debit every month for mods if you want.. They'll just show up at your door..

How are you Dad? Just getting on your case to find out about the 80mm sealing rings. Any news? Finally getting around to dump EVERYTHING under the bonnet next week so I'm chomping at the bit. Top job BTW, the pics look fab.

Wow, I was expecting a quality piece of work but didn't think I would be getting a work of art. You sure this is supposed to be hidden in an engine bay under the hood and not mounted on the wall in the living room over the mantle?

I was supposed to get a final answer on those sealing rings on Friday but I didn't get a return phone call.. I'll harass them tomorrow and try to find out.
I am so glad you like it! ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Victor,
Wow, this thing is a show-piece!!! Absolutely beautiful
I was taking my sweet time getting it installed, probably spent a good 2.5 hrs trying to get it right. Finally I realized I most likely had it were it needed to be within the first 10 minutes...
I also kept the OEM TB cover in place since it didn't interfere with the air box, it was epoxied to the TB anyway and would have been a PITA to get off. I didn't see the need to dab any silicone sealant where a previous poster did. This is located at the bottom of the air box (dirty side of the filter) and should not have any effect on the filtered air entering the engine.
The only thing missing is a VRP logo
, I mean you can't build a beauty like this and not sign off on it. Perhaps a small plaque, signed "vrus" to match the one on the engine...
Anyway, Vic great job and I hope to see some more C/F pieces from you soon.

Are you screaming yet? I received my air box and it's a beauty. Vic did a great job on presentation. No cheesy packaging and easy instructions. The box itself is VERY well done; I think everyone will be extremely happy with the quality. Time to mount it up.
