What are your thoughts on the handling of the E63 vs the E55. We have a had a little friendly debate going about this. Since this is a magazine article that who's results you believe............do you also believe that that E63 has improved handling? Again I don't really care one way or the other as I own neither car, but wondering if you'll accept the acceleration part of the result as valid but not the handling part.

i don't get it. the m5 beats the e63 in every test and then they give the win to the e63

plus, the e63 costs 7,000 euros more.

wow..... wonder if the cars were tested side by side, same day, same conditions? the E63 would have been totally killed to 124MPH.... 2 full seconds???? that is a crazy difference, like 15-20 car lengths....

should be interesting to see what the E63 does on the dyno.... I'm guessing it won't make more than 425rwhp on average....

I think the outcome makes about as much sense as the performance figures.

Even if it is screwy, this the 2nd article that picked the E63 over the M5.....first being the Automobile mag comparison.

yea 2 seconds seems alot but for some reason i knew M5 would be faster then e63.... My guess would be that its still hard to hook 265 tires to the ground...

P.s few days ago drove my friends 645ci for a while... what a great machine... active steering is the sweetest thing ever.... I wanna test drive the m5!

Based on the numbers that I am seeing in the mags I think it might be time to sell the E55 and buy the CLK 63. From what I am reading the CLK63 will be faster than the M5, M6, and the E63 up unitl about 100mph...

some good banter and verbal volley in this friendly debate. NOW, can we all please join hands, start our engines, and go //M hunting with some stories to recount to our Klub here. i use to have a e39/Dinan charged m5 until i came to the dark side and saw the light home...thank god you all left the lights on. buddy has new v10 and 55/amg and although mentions the "twisty" handling, concedes our 55's will outpunch the e60 to 60 and quarter at almost every bout, in his opinion. anyway, a lot of good points and maybe new/bie to the the 55, but LOVE THE CAR IMMENSLEY-best beast so far and beyond the 993t p-car i had prior to the M. just looking forward to RENNtech/Kleemann mod/s at some juncture. will mention again, though have stated before, that for whatever reason, i do not getting any car trying to pull on the 55 like the others i have driven. not sure of reason, but most seem to want to just let her be and probably realize the easy mod and incremental crush power w/ the Kompressor stack. guess maybe some sort of reasonable doubt that lingers in a potential encounter. who knows but LOVE IT. peace all.

This is absolutely no suprise to me.

E55's motor is simply a monster off line.

I am glad that i told my friend to scoop up a CLS55 instead of waiting for CLS63.

I have said it before, E55 is more useful in everyday driving. M5 to me is still a better car, but are totally useless in everyday driving (simply you don't have the ability to enjoy its power). I wonder how much weaker the E63 engine is at low end.

I do not "believe" them at all in either respect. i think they drive a car and comment as they go. I have NEVER even read (so that i can agree with or dispute) any comments regarding the change in handling of the E55 vs the E63. NEVER. Also, keep in mind that I am purely performance based and I have GRILLED AMG on the changes. Ok, 2000 parts, but did you all know that almost 500 parts changed on my '06 mid year? Does that mean it is significant? You tell me. Here is an example for those will surely want to call bull on this. Go into your MB dealer and say that you want to order the front torsion bars (links) for the Airmatic on an '06 E55. They will say thatthey need a vin because the part converted during the year. How many of you bothered to note that and wondered if the "new" link will change the ride height and handling on your cars? NONE! That is how many.

My contention is now and has been since spring of 2003 that the W211 is THE BEST handling sedan that MB has ever put out. Also, when the new 5 body was introduced, the W211 was proclaimed as the better handling. Now mags are sayoing the E63 handles better than the M5?? Or Just that it handles better (implying better than E55). I say check yourself on the E55 first and do not compare an '03 to the new M5 or an E63. Be fair.

I dont see how they could rate the E63 better ...... 2 second difference to 200km/h is around a 55 meter gap ... so ~13 car lengths ... ???

EDIT: It gets worse my cacls were for a 1 second gap so at 200km/h you covering ground at 56m/s and the gap is 2 seconds so 110m ... so ~23 car lengths ???? WTF thats allot of real estate right there ...

Is mid range grunt so impressive it makes the slower car better when the E55 arguably has better mid range grunt...... wierd ???

So I call this article

The figs and conclusion just dont add up ....
definately don't add up ,that many car lengths would never happen unless someone got on the brakes .i've run bikes that are 2 seconds faster than my car and they don't even pull on me that many lengths.numbers are numbers;in the real world this will never occur.just more M5 PROPAGANDA,now that they know e55 owns them they go picking on the 63

But the E63 came in as overall winner.

I'll agree that the numbers don't look very good for the E63 (if they what they are, then what a catastrophe MB has created) but as someone pointed out on the C32 vs C55, from that alone prior to release everyone thought the 55 would eat up the 32 but was not the case. Not really surprised at the outcome, heck I don't care as I'm still gonna go look at the E63 for my daily/bad weather car...I still love what MB has done with the 6.2 motor.
