Anyone everyone expereince a gas smell in their cars after WOT. Possible coming out of the tailpipe. Today, I noticed a fuel like smell coming out of my car's tail pipe. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure, but maybe you have an exaust leak somehwhere? My E55 got noticably louder during a 2 week time period and i took it into the dealer cause i thought it was strange. They came back and told me one of the clamps's bolts came off the screw and thats what it was. Maybe you have this problem, but i never smelled gas. I'd have that checked out asap.

A loose gas cap can produce some strange results.

Strangely, I get raw fuel smell after hard throttle with my CL when the gas cap isn't on quit right or not tightened all the way. This doesn't seem to actually come from the tail pipe though.

Also, if the (EGR?) hose that connects to the y-pipe for the intake comes lose a strange mix of oil/gas smell will be prevalent under hard throttle.

It happens to me everytime I overfill the tank. If I don't stop after the first click of the pump, but try to get an extra gallon in (what the hell for?), the fuel expands in the tank and overflows through the cap or some other way. It smells bad!

Hmm!! I no longer have the y-pipe. I have the Renntech air box. Not sure where the smell is coming from, but it is making me a little nervous...

I'm a newbie to the Benz fold, so forgive me if I'm incorrect.

EVAP is part of the fuel system that I thought all OBD-II cars were equipped with to deal with fuel vapors. A fuel smell is often an EVAP-related issue.

If M-B has a different way of dealing with the issue, then I apologize. Just trying to help.
