MB Buy Backs

Anyone have any opinions or experience with MB buyback cars. I'm looking at an E55 and have seen several lemon law buybacks available. I've talked to my dealer and they said as long as the factory warranty is still in effect there will be no problems. I've been looking at 05's.
Thanks

....find out why it was bought back.... I looked at a couple where the reason was due to the phone, and cd player-- which are no reason not to buy a car, very minor. remember though, when you go to trade it in, they will kill you on the trade in value no matter what the reason is.

That is total . There's no way in hell these cars were bought back for something that minor. I have MULTIPLE issues with my E55 and I don't see me being able to stick this thing up their a$$ as much as I'd like to. There is a huge difference in the value of a "lemon". Unless they're willing to give them up at half of sticker or less, I would run, not walk, away.

I'd also investigate why the car was bought back. So many features can go wrong with these cars. The well-off people that buy cars like this tend to be extremely picky as time is valuable. Keyless go would be a feature that can go bad and ruin your day, yet does not affect the car's operation. However it can cause such an inconvenience as to make the owner proceed on a lemon law buyback if it happens more than once.

Back in the 90's I bought the first C36 AMG that came into the midwest. The car was great but the check engine light kept coming on. I had about 6000 miles on the car and MB said they would: put a new motor in it, give me a new car or write me a check for the car. I tend to change cars often and I took the money and got a new car. I know MB was pretty liberal at the time about buybacks. It just seems that if things are fixed and the vehicle is still within warranty period there are some great deals.
Does anyone here have a buyback car?

This question arose in the W211 non-AMG section as well. Take a look.

I can only speak from personal experience. My car was a buy back and I couldn't be happier with my decision to purchase it. Some will not agree with this (Ahem, enter Jangy) and that's fine but my car has been an absolute pleasure. Read the thread on the other room for more...

The car is at a Mercedes dealer right now. The service advisor is doing a PPI if it passes I'm getting it! They saw no reason not to buy a buyback vehicle - for the right price of course.

What has everyone who has had their vehicle purchased back experienced with MB? Did they only offer a new vehicle, or did they offer the money dicated by lemon law in the state?

If you ask me, given my current experience, I would never buy a factory buyback. The dealer is always going to downplay the reason it was bought back, by saying it w sonly a stupid check engine light or something , but I bet it will just lead to other issues that you do not need to deal with.
