sounds like a buncha cow-sh*t to me...its funny i ran into an M5 last night, and the guy was stairing at my car, so i figured he wanted to race but we were driving on SANTA MONICA blvd, and for all of you that arnt familiar with LA, that rhodes been under construction for a year now, bunch of dips and potholes SO no race...so i just rolled my window down and said he said nice car and im like yeah you too, im like how do you like it, hes like its quick but my cousin has an M5 too, and he says hes been loosing to those all day (meaning the 55) haha, anyways light turned green and we both rolled up our windows and went our ways...its funny how he said that, then this guy puts up a thread about walking the 55 & the 63 PFFF

Never believe anyone who writes with thier capslock on. Besides, he said his M5 took an E55 off the line. We all know that doesn't happen unless the driver falls asleep or there's excessive wheel spin.

The funny thing is that an M5-E63- and a E55 are all very fast cars with very similiar performance stats and depending on the situation any car could win in a street race.
Now in a staged 1/4 mile run a E55 should beat both the M5 and E63......... add 3-10 grand in mods to the 55 and its a different story entirely!
I might pick up a manual E60 M5 next year perhaps........we'll see.

The initial post said it was a 2nd gear rolling start. If they start races at speeds/rpm's where the M5's lack of torque doesn't matter, then anything is possible. I am not prepared to call BS on this one.

Bet the E63 still had its temp tag on. Or does the mileage excuse not work for MB cars?

Anyway - still waiting for some E63 timeslips. Still haven't seen a low 12 second slip from a stock M5. Hope the E63 can manage to pull low 12's stock. We'll see.

whoever jumps on it first is going to stay that way. this isn't against the 55 where stock was 40hp short of the M5.

Most dynos show the E55 with 489-493 bhp not the claimed 469-476 bhp.

You did the AMG thing... pull the trigger on the M5... its the better sports sedan... regardless of who pulls how many cars by 120.

When I saw in the title E60 in the company of E55 and E63 I thought
1993 W124 E60 AMG I guess I am showing my age...
Those rolling start races are definitely tricky and favour high revving engines in the M5 and E63. Our Kompressors use 100HP at high revs just spinning, flattening out the available engine power considerably.
The good thing is that we have more opportunities for standing starts at traffic lights than we do any other way.

Since when has the M5 been called the Beast? I sense a little plagiarism going on here...

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
This is more or less what I expected to be honest....

E55 remains the beast out of the hole... and the E63 / M5 are as close as you can get - also 1 car length is not walking away - it comes down to who gets on it first ...

1 mile drag race would be v interesting M5 v E63 ... think aero of E63 might have the edge and the small HP advantage ... but think these are two very closely matched cars... rolling start slight M5 advantage , out of hole I would say E63 would get ahead and stay ahead.

How close can you get ?

I've seen the E39 called the Beast before I saw it titled to the W211.

I thought the same thing!

Honestly I don't know how credible this story is, but its possible that if the M5 was at 6800 and up rpm that it would have had the juice to hang with the 55, but I doubt it would take the 63 in a straight line. More power than the M5, more torque, same number of gears.......you do the math. I'm still dying to go up against either, I can't believe I haven't found a 55 that will play yet.
