Car Magazine Tests E63, M5, & S6

Car Magazine is supposed to be available on August 30th with a cover story test between these 3 cars. Maybe they will do some 1/4 testing to see who's faster. Do any of you subscribe or know where to get a copy? If so, post the results!

Here is a link the their promo video. There is an ad on the left side of the page teasing the issue and the cover story.

Unless you are a subscriber to the mag, you will not be seeing this issue(October) untill late September in the States. The September issue just went public a couple of days ago.

Don't hold your breath for comparative data. Car is one of those mags (like EVO) that gives you a ten page spread with lots of pics but no test data. Will be interesting to read someone's review of how the E63 feels. Having said that, the lack of real data in these magazines puzzles me. They may respond that "numbers don't really matter, it is how it feels". But if there is anything we know about people on "this side" of the Atlantic, we want data.

Real tests (and that means - production cars, real owners, uncorrected times) are coming in the next couple of weeks when the E63's start hitting the strip. We already know what the E55 and M5 can, and can't, do from a standing start. Be nice to see how the E63 does.

Based on owner reviews on this site, the E63 seems to be a better all around car, even if it lacks the violent thrust of the E55. Now, if the E63 runs similar times to the E55, then it is hard to argue about the progress made.

"To test Germany's finest to the limit on the trail of gangster flick Ronin – while trying to avoid the attention of les gendarmes... Watch a clip here, then read the full story in October's CAR magazine, out 30 August."

Now that sounds like a great premise for an article!

It will probably be Oct/Nov before we see the best times out of the E63s. Most of us ran our best times at sea level/~65-70 deg outside temp.

You are right.

I plan on running at Atco during a track rental on 11/17.

Good luck. Hopefully you'll better your 12.07. I'm looking to better my stock 12.16 with a set of Nitto DRs at a track day on 09/18.

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
The article is rubbish no stats other than published data. The ranking is based on authors overall opinion and seems was quitre swayed by the impression the car makes , and the M5 attracted the most attention.

1.__M5
2.__E63
3.__RS6
