Nice rides!

Please post some pics of your new AMG. What color?

The only E63's I have see in pictures are silver and black. I wonder why?

welcome aboard.

First, the good news. The car feels much more responsive, steering inputs are deliberate, brakes seem stronger and I'm willing to bet this car would do great on a road course.

Unfortunately, we were on the drag strip tonight where the car didn't do well. Best run was 13.01 @ 108.84 mph. Launching is super easy with the reduced torque. The best 60' time was 2.03 on the stock Contis.

Overall, it felt weaker down low than the E55 and weaker up top than the
M5. With all that being said, I LOVE the new "Max Cool" button on the AC controls--no more dialing it down one degree at a time.

Max cool button sounds COOL.

I usually just hit auto and it automatically turns on to MAX COOL. If you look on the display it says MAX COOL in the top right corner.

You must be new here

I think DerekFSU's E55 was @ One Lap of America, hence the stickers and his suit.
He drags on the strip all the time. Derek is a certified badass.

Very valid points to the ones directed to the near future selection at the MB dealer, I'm very interested in a CL63 due to the flagship interior and features, but I'm not expecting to put $120K+ into an '08 AMG CL and having to merge over to the slow lane when an E39 M is in my mirror. Let's get back on top of building cars worth they're fee MB! I'm just hoping Derek's motor was born on a Friday by a "ready to party up this weekend" tech!

You're going to be saying that a lot from now on. New Euro pedestrian safety regulations restrict how "low" the hood of a car can be, which is one of the reasons why the CLS was rushed into production before said laws came into place, its hood would never qualify. Another change is the "double bubble" dash/nav side-by-side setup due to a certain angle required for all gauges/screens to be within "line of sight."

SOLD. Taking a $1,500 hit on the car and trading it in with 500 miles on it for a new M6. Thank goodness I still have the E55 or I'd be crying in my beer. I hope mine turns out to be the exception, not the rule.

I'm racing this week (Thursday-Sunday) at the NASA Nationals at Mid-Ohio. I'm running the Noble and a Miata. There are close to 400 cars if anyone is nearby and wants to come out and see some good racing.

Congrats Derek... you'll love the new M6. Are you going to slap a S/C on it or juice it??? Or both

BTW ---- taking only a $1,500 hit is not bad at all... You're lucky. I bought a S4 drove it for 5 days and lost 5k when I traded it in on my old C55.

Derek, If i were to cross over to the dark-side the m6 would be my choice. They are making 460 to 470 rwhp with headers and ecu and 550 to 560 with nos. With a dry kit thanks to the individual cylinder correction.
I almost hate saying this but it will not disappoint you.

Derek when you first ran your M5 I think you got something like 13.0-13.2@110-113 if I recall. Then, more broken in M5's started recording 12.5s-12.8s....@114-117

My point is if you ran a 13.0-13.1 at 108 then maybe others will hit 12.4-12.7@110-114 with the E63...time will tell....

isn't that because the m5 was load limited during the break-in period? we don't know for sure if the e63 is....

Fair point, and it would hold true if the E63 has a disabled launch control that can be used after break-in like the M5. I think that was also with a 2.2-2.3 60' time on the M5 without LC.

Derek ran a 13.01 @ 116.28 in the M5. 2.33 60' times without "Launch Control". Interesting that both times are identical, but big difference in the trapspeeds.
