did you say...

480 RWhp????? Not being able to clamp onto a wire only affects the torque #...right??? The RWhp # is not affected by that, or is it.

If you got 480 HP, holy s_it!! How did you only get 13.0_in the 1/4.

Am I missing something here?

Yes the site is dreadfully slow. I have put my fist through 2 LCD screens today alone... ok maybe not really but its frustrating at times.

So that is 480hp at the rear wheels? Thats well more than 507 at the crank then. Im lost at this point then. I really dont get it!

Thanks for the dyno run im sure this will become a very active thread.

Many people have been posting double as they hit submit again while it seems that the site is frozen, hence the 2 posts prior to your last one.

Yeah, can you explain the results for us 'dyno ignorant fools'. 480rwhp seems very high. Are you saying then that this is a mistake based on the inability to obtain the RPM and torque figures? Or, are you saying that that is legit despite being able to obtain the other numbers? Also how many miles do you have now?

Was a typo, check his follow up post. 380 is the real #. The board is really acting up today.

(Edit to correct number from 480 to 380)

380 is final answer? SAE or no?

What are E55 guys getting for numbers? Now that the corrected is 380rwhp, that seems a bit low. Any thoughts on making this more accurate in order to get all the numbers and performance specs?

Sounds like Derek has a low HP producing engine, or his Hp loss thru the powertrain is huge, OR...... these 6.3, excuse me 6.2 engines are really putting out mid to high 400 HP at the crank. God I hope not.
D

PS: Derek, who signed your engine block, I hope it's not the same kraut who built mine. And, did you have the MAX AC button on during your pull and your 1/4 mile push..

I had mine dynod when it was brand new. I got 400 hp /468 ft-lbs at the rear wheels and mine is weak compared to some of the others who get 410-420. I might have picked up a few now that theres more miles on it.

We already know that the 5 speed is an amazingly efficient transmission. AMAZINGLY, however the new 7 speed is supposed to be even better, and if Derek's car is not, in fact, a dog then the E55 vs. E63 argument was just solved on the dyno IMHO.

My 05 E55 made sae corrected 396.52HP/476.60Tq 80deg/42% humidity but Im not saying this dyno was correct either.Car made 20hp less on the first pull due to heat soak. You can hear the difference of 20hp when the car is making its pull,it sounded alot more aggressive on the 396 pull for sure.

....and the winner of the Hp prediction IS......Kens-E55
so Derek.....what do I win for only missing the prediction by 5Hp?...(375Hp)
Let me guess.......

I'm curious - do you remember the RWTq #?

OK - but in all seriousness...NO WAY is this thing doing 507Hp at the crank!!

Well we all know the E55 dynos the same as the SL55 and that is a 500 HP car so technically the E63 never had a HP advantage except for in marketing speak. It's quite possible that the 7 speed being so close to it's max power that it was adjusted for reliablitly reasons and that is why it's not performing due to drive train loss.

Mine stock (Before K2 pack'g) was 411 RWHp and Chris @ C2Designs said that was right in the ballpark of most stock E55's!

507Hp on E63 I smell a RAT!!

I don't think anything is settled. We need another 3 or 4 E63's on the track more than anything else. My baseline on this dyno with K2 was 439rwhp.

Agree on a few more E63's at the track
BTW - with the K2 (before NOS) What was your best time and speed at the track?
(Chris @ C2 has "likened" my '04 to yours in performance-but with my travel schedule...it's almost impossible to get mine to a track..........................any volunteers? )

Geez, 380rwhp is pathetic when the outgoing model had at least 20rwhp more and was advertised with a number over 30hp less. I'm so disappointed in M-B and AMG. I still hold out some hope, but not much. Still, 380rwhp should have netted 12s...

assuming there's a 20% drivetrain loss, this means the car is only making about 455hp at the crank. where's the rest of the 50hp? something's off.

it could also mean that 7-spped tranny is sucking 33-34% of the power away!

Derek, couple questions with regard to dyno:

1. Which gear? 4th or 5th?

2. Was dyno a Dynojet? Can you post the graph?

3rd gear. As listed in the first post, Dynojet. Having problem with graph post, nothing really to see other than what I posted.

Comparing to other dynos is a waste in my opinion. My K2 "only" dyno'd at 439rwhp but ran 11.65.
