Yes, you can use the steering wheel commands. Start with the menu buttons "far left" until you get to the "Settings" reading on the instrument cluster. Use the up/down arrows next to the menu buttons until you get to the "dynamic seat" controls. Then you use the +/- buttons to change from weak to strong. Pretty easy.

36018 Perform test dynamic seat for leaks left front seat for code (9256 Leak A IR at cushion of left seat-lumbar bottom
Perform electrical test 12 volts power is ok
Perform leak test - Right front seat for code (9251 leak at right cushion for lateral support)
916685 Remove and replace left seat control module.
916690 Remove and replace right seat control module.
So, I don't speak Mercedes-Tech-a-neese but it looks like they replaced 2 vacuum valves and both seat control modules. This was done 4/24/06 and I haven't had a problem since.
